Talk about Bad Santa. This four mile parade-cum-pub-crawl will see hundreds of red hatted revellers galavanting around the streets of London this Saturday, sharing gifts, free hugs and…stopping off for a few pints at the pub. SantaCon has been organising epic Christmas street parties for 16 years now, encouraging Londoners to don a merry little outfit and partake in this ‘non-profit, non-political, non-religious and non-sensical’ celebration of the festive period.
Although like most Christmas activities SantaCon does involve getting very merry, there are some strict rules that must be followed to ensure that things don’t get lose their, um…festive spirit. Namely, all Santas must be very nice to children and not get too drunk in front of them. And no blaming it on that ‘glass of sherry’ left out for you, either.
The different routes will be announced on their Facebook page in the run-up to the event and the separate groups will end up converging at the same point, in a mahuusive festive throng of (drunken) well-wishers. Want to join the party? Just make sure you don’t forget your full suit. Pathetic attempts at re-creating Santa hats with a red beanie will be thoroughly frowned upon.
