There are so many incredible health benefits to hitting up the spa, and it never has to break the bank (although there are some lovely swanky alternatives in London, granted).
From relieving the aches and pains of city life to stress reduction and mental health benefits, this community spa in East London allows you to reclaim the benefits of spas without that notoriously hefty price tag. So, here’s everything you need to know:
Relax and rejuvenate in Hackney, and beyond!
The Community Sauna Baths is an incredible initiative here in the capital, now boasting three locations dotted around the city, as well as the occasional pop-up. Their OG location in Hackney Wick is an adorable revival paradise, located smack-bang in the middle of bustling East London. It’s the perfect place to get away from it all, be it for a quick dip in the cold plunge or an hour of total relaxation.
Nestled inside the historic Public Baths building in Hackney, which dates back to the 1930s, there are six saunas, on top of the other fantastic facilities on site. It’s also one of the best places to take the daunting leap into those cold plunges, with a sense of community for some much-needed motivation or peer pressure, depending on how you look at things!
Putting the community first, expect fun events throughout the year that take place in these little slices of relaxation throughout the city. From Queer Poetry Night and mindful get-togethers to sound baths, yoga, speed dating, and other unmissable happenings, these fabulous spaces are so much more than your average sauna/community bath.
Their second location is further East in Stratford, with another down south in Peckham’s Glengall Wharf Garden. All three locations have their own unique quirks, but the Hackney location is the largest, as well as being the original.

Sessions run from Monday through to Sunday with prices starting at £8.50 for the early rising weekday customers. Prices don’t increase much for evenings and weekends, either. They also have membership options if you see yourself becoming a frequent visitor, or you can privately hire one of their saunas that fit up to five people.
