The Christmas fair in Leicester Square is returning for 2017.
The throbbing quadrilateral at the heart of London’s tourist district is getting a festive new look, starting November 10.
In the square itself, you’ll find 25 Christmas market stalls selling ‘curios, sumptuous food and delicious drinks.’ Sounds jolly enough to us.
But friends! This is not all. For alongside this fairy-lit rhombus of Crimbo commerce you’ll find a Spiegeltent, playing host to a bunch of performances curated by the same Underbelly team who bring an array of performers to the Southbank each summer.
There’ll be seasonal retro sets from jazz and swing groups (think lots of cosy, coquettish ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ vibes) and musical comedy from the Horne Section, plus the frankly incredible singer-impressionist and ‘internet sensation’ Christina Bianco being fourteen different divas at once:
Elsewhere on the bill there’s cirus, cabaret and burlesque shows for grown-ups…
…while kids (remember them?) can see Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Medicine, boogie-woogie at a Baby Disco, or catch an ‘improvised musical’ for families called Showstoppers. And naturally, they’ll be able to meet Santa himself in a glittering grotto. Cute!
