Better hope it isn’t your round when someone orders this…
Last year, we told you about a pub in Borough Market that was charging £13.40 for a pint of beer. Whilst there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth about this, we hoped it was simply a high-water mark, a sure sign that things couldn’t get worse. Guess what? They have.
As the Metro first reported, the Old Street branch of The Craft Beer Co are stocking Speedway Stout, a US craft brew from the AleSmith Brewing Company. For the pleasure of imbibing this pint, all you have to do is fork over £22.50 of your hard-earned. Nope, that’s not a typo. This has officially become London’s most expensive pint.
The Speedway Stout is made with Hawaiian coffee, coconut flakes, and vanilla beans, and pairs very nicely with a side of frivolous decadence. Considering it’s more expensive than some flights to Europe, you’ll want to be sure before you order it. It’s 12% ABV, and if you don’t think you can handle a full pint, you can pick up a third for a much more reasonable £7.50. Face it, London: it’s only a matter of time before a £30 pint arrives…
