February 1: Editors
Kicking off this roundup of the best gigs in London during February 2023 are the Editors – an English Rock band who’ve had two UK number one albums and have also got a Mercury Prize nomination under their belts. Fresh off the release of last year’s LP, ‘EBM’, they’re hitting the Troxy on February 1 for what promises to be a great night. Expect loads of their new material as well as older bangers like ‘Munich’ and ‘An End Has A Start’.

February 1: Keshi
Casey Luong – better known by his stage name of Keshi – is a quadruple threat. Singer, songwriter, record producer and instrumentalist, he’s accumulated over one billion streams with hits such as ‘Like I Need U’ and ‘Right Here’. He’s heading to Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo for one night only on February 1 to play hits from his first album ‘Gabriel’.

February 1–10: BRITs Week presented by Mastercard for War Child 2023
Awards shows – it’s that time of year again. In celebration of the BRITs (which take place on February 11), Mastercard are once again running their ‘BRITs Week’, host of intimate one-off performances with an array of different artists, all to raise funds for those children affected by war. This year sees the likes of the Sugababes at The Garage, an acoustic Rina Sawayama show at Lafayette and performances by Years & Years and Metronomy at the venue of the moment – HERE at Outernet. There’s also Beabadoobee at Lafayette, Kojey Radical at XOYO, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Cavetown at OMEARA in London Bridge. Phew!

February 3: Annie Mac
Now this woman needs no introduction. Legendary DJ, podcast host, author and former BBC Radio 1 presenter Annie Mac takes over HERE at Outernet for her beloved ‘Before Midnight’ club night. A night out clubbing and bed by 1am at the latest so you beat the hangover? Sounds pretty good to us.

February 3: Betty Who
Hailing all the way from Down Under and a true pop pioneer, Betty Who brings what promises to be an out-of-this-world show to legendary LGBTQ+ venue Heaven on February 3. Supported by British singer-songwriter NEVE, she’ll no doubt barnstorm her way through lively tracks off her latest LP ‘Big!’ as well as her big hits like ‘Somebody Loves You’. We for one can’t wait.

February 6 & 7: Mogwai
Ahead of the release of their album ‘Reissues’, Scottish Post-Rock band Mogwai are taking over The Garage in Highbury and Islington for two consecutive nights. Their last LP, ‘As the Love Continues’, was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2021 and reached number one in the UK albums chart, so they’ll no doubt be performing numerous hits from there like ‘Richie Sacramento’ and ‘Dry Fantasy’. February 7: Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders
As the founding member and lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the iconic Rock band the Pretenders, Chrissie Hynde is obviously one hell of a talent. She and her band will be performing at Lafayette in King’s Cross on February 7, no doubt playing tracks off their latest LP (2020’s ‘Hate for Sale’) and hopefully some new material too!

February 7 & 8: Ellie Goulding
Ever since her smash-hit ‘Starry Eyed’ and number one album ‘Lights’ back in 2010, English singer-songwriter Ellie Gouling has knocked it out the park. She’s had four studio albums, eight extended plays and 38 singles, and is currently gearing up for the release of her fifth LP next month called ‘Higher Than Heaven’ It’ll no doubt storm to the top of the charts, and she’s playing two nights at legendary music venue KOKO in Camden in order to promote it. February 8: Sandi Thom
“Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in her hairrrrrr”… you know the rest. The Scottish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sandi Thom burst back onto the music scene back in 2006 with both a number one single and number one album (‘Smile…It Confuses People’), and she has continued to make music ever since. She’s performing at the famous Jazz venue Boisdale of Canary Wharf on February 8 for what promises to be a great night with added musicians playing alongside her too.

February 8, 9 & 10: Kenny Garrett
Kenny Garrett is a legendary American Jazz musician-come-composer who gained recognition in his youth as a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra and for his time with Miles Davis’s band. He’s playing a consecutive run of three nights at the famous Ronnie Scott’s in Soho – a great date night spot perhaps?!

February 9: Tove Stryke
A platinum-selling singer-songwriter hailing from Sweden, Trove Stryke has made major waves since she first appeared on the country’s version of Pop Idol back in 2009. Four critically-acclaimed albums and 30 singles later and she’s back on British soil for a special show at Lafayette, no doubt singing her hits from her 2022 LP ‘Hard’.

February 10: Belinda Carlisle
You might best know the chart-topping, grammy nominated American singer Belinda Carlisle from her smash-hit ‘Heaven is a Place on Earth’, but did you know that she was also the lead singer of The Go-Gos – ‘the most successful all-female rock band of all time’? With eight different LPs under her belt, she’s got plenty of hits, so expect her to rack them all off when she plays the London Palladium later this month.

February 10: Rebecca Black
Flash back to 2011, and Rebecca Black was everywhere thanks to her song ‘Friday’ blowing up all over social media. She’s now gearing up to release her debut studio album entitled ‘Let Her Burn’, and will be performing at the world-famous venue Heaven in Charing Cross in order to promote it alongside some special guests. You’re in for a real treat with this one.

February 11: Rumer
Sarah Joyce, better known by her stage name, Rumer is a British singer-songwriter who first burst onto the scene back in 2010 when she supported Jools Holland on tour. After the release of her initial LP, ‘Seasons of My Soul’, she was then nominated for two BRIT awards and has gone from strength to strength ever since. She’ll be performing a special show at Islington’s magnificent Bush Hall.

February 11: Archways
Archways are a brand-spanking new five-piece Alternative Pop and Indie Rock band based in London. Taking influences from The Smiths, Coldplay, Oasis, Inhaler, Two Door Cinema Club and M83, they’ve created their own new wave, anthemic and euphoric sound. Well worth checking out, they’re playing at the O2 Academy in Islington on February 11.

February 11: Reverend and the Makers
Indie Rock band Reverend and the Makers first burst onto the scene back in 2007 with the release of their debut album ‘The State of Things’ which raced to number five in the UK albums chart. Now with six different LPs under their belt and a hiatus, they’re back in business and will be playing a night in the beautiful Islington Assembly Hall. New music on the horizon? Wigan-based The Lathums are an Indie band who won rave reviews with the release of their debut album ‘How Beautiful Life Can Be’, which raced to the top of the charts back in 2021. February 14: Eagle Eye Cherry
Brother of Neneh and an acclaimed singer-songwriter himself, Eagle Eye Cherry first came to the attention of music critics and punters alike with the release of his 1997 single ‘Save Tonight’ and subsequent album ‘Desireless’ – which both were met with worldwide acclaim. His latest single ‘I Like It’ was released back in 2021, so expect more from where that came from when he plays the O2 Academy in Angel.

Like him or not, you can’t deny the musical prowess of Chris Brown.
