London’s iconic black cab will soon be seen on the streets of Amsterdam as a new electric model is exported overseas for the first time.
The London Taxi Company – the lovely chaps who put the black cabs on our streets – is undergoing a major rebrand, and they’re going for an Electric Feel.
Come 2018, 225 new black cabs will be taking to the streets of Amsterdam, and they’re all going to be electric powered. In order to help introduce the new model, The London Taxi Co. will be publicly known as the London Electric Vehicle Company from September.
While we might currently associate black cabs specifically with London and the UK, soon enough we might view them as being an intrinsic part of the canal-side city. There’s nothing more Dutch than clogs, tulips and black cabs…
Not too sure about that one yet. Watch this space!
The good news is we’re all going to be rocking down to Electric Avenue before long, because the powers that be (aka TfL) have decreed that from 2018, all new black cabs in London must be electric powered.
The even better news is that while the standard London cab as we know it only seats five passengers, the newer model will have room for six people. An infinitely more useful number in our opinion.
Roll on 2018.
