It looks like we’ve May-de it, look how far we’ve come (it’s May. We’re in May now). And as a little nod to the occasion, it seems like the temperatures are going up even higher than, say, parts of Spain.
Yes, London is expected to be hotter than Barcelona on Tuesday next week, with BBC reporting the Spanish city to see highs of 18°C while London basks in a comparatively scorching 19°C on Tuesday next week (May 7). Sure, we may not have a beach right on our doorsteps, but we do have an extra one degree AND the combination of old picnic blankets and London Fields. So I know which one I’m taking.
What’s more, for part of the week, the two cities will be wrestling each other with a temperature prediction currently tied at 19°C (before the mercury goes up for Barcelona and down for London… stunning).
London will enjoy a nice streak of four 19°C days, though the first few might seem a little damp and grey. Fear not, though, because as next weekend draws closer the sun is expected to show itself with a particularly bright day slated for Friday (May 10).
However, those barbecues might not be good to come out permanently just yet, since there’s a likelihood we see another temperature drop and some rainy days before getting to the real season of joy in the capital. But for now, who are we to turn down a day or two that’s hotter than Barcelona? If you close your eyes and imagine hard enough, you can repeat the feeling of lying on the golden sands of Barceloneta beach, poised to dive in the sea or have a game of volleyball before a can of Estrella.
London in summer… You’re still the one that I want.
