It’s freezing in London right now (you could be reading this in June and it still stands true), so why not heat things up with a little Mexican spice?
1. Cantina Laredo
Located in the sparkly Seven Dials area, Cantina Laredo is your wonderful answer to high-end Mexican dining. Ditch the burrito-on-the-go from your local market – Cantina Laredo offers up-market and modern Mexican cuisine – and we must say, it is rather fancy! With fresh and deliciously authentic guacamole made to your specification right at your table and a massively impressive array of dishes to share (or feast on yourself, no judgment!) we guarantee you’ll love it. We particularly recommend the Tacos de Rib Eye with corn tortillas, rib eye steak, avocado emulsion and guajillo oil, we told you it was fancy! Pair your meal with classic Mexican Margaritas or Mojitos and keep the fiesta going all night!

This charming Portobello Road restaurant has an authentic feel to it. The warm atmosphere is beaten only by the truly delicious food packed with real Mexican flavour. We recommend starting with the nachos, a huge bowl of crispy tortilla chips piled high with guacamole, sour creme, cheese, refried beans and chile con carne. Don’t forget to save some room for the mains though! Choose between quesadillas, burritos, tacos or hot plates (as well as an impressive selection of changing specials). The only problem you’ll have here at Santo is whether to partner your food with an cold beer or a freshly prepared margarita… So why not go for both?!

DF/Mexico is the Nando’s of Mexican Restaurants, and we honestly mean that as a compliment. Think speedy service, bottomless drinks and not having to wait for the bill after you’ve eaten (you do have to pay before, mind). We scoffed our faces with chorizo nachos (which we couldn’t believe were considered a side order), pulled pork and buttermilk chicken tacos and sipped on damn good frozen margaritas. The food was beautifully presented, or at least it was until the moment we stuck our teeth into it, and they had a huge gluten free menu (if that’s any help to anyone). We thoroughly recommend DF/Mexico if you’re after a naughty lunch or a quick and casual dinner. DF = Damn Fine*.
(*Not actually what it stands for).

4. Killa Dilla
This humble but vibrant food truck is part of street food heroes KERB’s crew and it is most definitely worthy of it’s place. Currently, with a full-time residency at Camden Market, (among other locations), Killa Dilla do quesadillas really, really well. Think unbelievably cheesy tortillas filled with your choice of beef short rib, chicken thigh, pork belly or veggies. Plus, for those of who are well and truly in the festive spirit, Killa Dilla are also serving up a Christmas quesadilla filled with turkey confit cranberry, Brussels sprouts and clementine salsa. Yes please!
