Near & Far has brought Mexican grub and Californian vibes to Camden.
You may know Near & Far for its wacky interiors and panoramic views at Peckham Levels, or its neon vibes in Angel, but they’ve opened a third location in Camden, and it’s a welcome addition to the area.
Taking the Palm Springs concept to the next level, the latest offshoot of Near & Far is set over four floors and includes a gorgeous covered roof terrace with views over Camden market. The whole venue is filled with pastel colours, hot pink lighting, palm trees and cacti, making it a millennial’s paradise (yeah, I used the ‘M’ word).
The booze list is mighty, and boasts a fantastic selection of cocktails with some pretty silly names. The Tequila’d Pink with tequila, ginger liqueur, cranberry and citrus is a welcome alternative to a Margarita; the Emergency Brexit with gin, campari, Antica Formula infused with thyme and garnished with orange peel and cucumber is a great drink to help you forget; and the Benedict Cucumberbatch with gin, prosecco, cucumber juice, elderflower and citrus is an absolute winner. Besides cocktails, there’s also a huge list of spirits to make your way through, as well as beers and ciders.
While the cocktail menu is inspired by world travels, the kitchen is all Mexican grub from Elote, one of London’s best street food traders. You can expect tasty tacos and tostadas, with both veggie and vegan options available. And — a bonus for some — absolutely everything is gluten free! I personally recommend the grilled achiote-marinated fish tacos with lime mayo and pico de gallo, as well as the chickpea chips with chipotle mayo.
On Friday and Saturday nights, there’ll also be DJs to get things grooving – and you can expect everything from Latin and Balearic House to laid back Disco.
