If there’s one thing you can always depend on in London it’s that there are always new restaurants and bars to try out. Sometimes it feels like you can’t walk down any street twice without seeing a new eatery, deli, or cafe opening up as if from out of nowhere! And naturally, given we’re now in a brand-new year, there are plenty of brand-new restaurants to get excited about. Here are some of the new restaurants that we’ve got on our ‘must-visit’ list this year:
New restaurants and bars to try in London
Agora & Oma
🍽️ What is it? A duo of restaurants under the same roof, one spilling into Borough Market (Agora), the other tucked away upstairs. Both have been inspired by the Greek isles and dining at local tavernas in Greece. Agora is exclusively walk-ins only, while Oma will take reservations.
🧑🍳 Who is it? A veritable who’s who of London’s dining and maker scene. Cooking talent and founding team come from the likes of Manteca, Kiln, Smokestak, and more, with bread supervised by ex-E5 Head Baker Eyal Schwartz, and an international team of collaborators working across the restaurant.
😋 What to order? If you’re at Agora, start with the flatbread, order a few spreads (don’t skip the hummus) and one of each skewer (you have to try them all) before settling in with the slow-cooked chickpeas, ‘spanokopita’ flatbread, lamb adana (essentially a lamb mince kebab) flatbread, and the rotisseried pork. If you’re at Oma, we have no advice for you – except to order widely.

TÓU
🍽️ What is it? The duo behind TĀ TĀ Eatery has brought back their iconic sandos, which have seen considerable success across pop-ups, with a 1970s Japanese Americana inspired sando bar.
🧑🍳 Who is it? TĀ TĀ Eatery founders Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng are working together on the new opening.
😋 What to order? Go for the Ibérico Pork Katsu Sando – it’s essentially a classic of the menu now, but it’s still ridiculously indulgent. And then wash it all down with some Pet Nat wine and some fries.

🍽️ What is it? A Peckham Market residency turned brick-and-mortar restaurant celebrating the depth and possibility of Malaysian food.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Chef Abby Lee is easily one of the most exciting chefs currently working in London
😋 What to order? How hungry are you? Because I want to tell you to bring friends and order the whole menu… Whatever you do, don’t miss the Double-Roasted Pork or the Kay Pachok (grilled chicken thigh and heart skewers).

🍽️ What is it? The one-time pop-up gets a second life celebrating lesser-known and hard-to-find dishes that Singaporeans love.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The pop-up that first brought Singapulah to life was also the start of London’s beloved Arôme bakery.
😋 What to order? Enjoy a delicious Singaporean Laksa, and be sure to grab some Fried Chilli Crab Bao and Sambal Fishball Skewers to start.

🍽️ What is it? A hidden Soho rooftop restaurant and bar with a wrap-around terrace serving Middle Eastern sharing plates and sundowner cocktails.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Executive Chef Tom Cenci has worked at the likes of Duck & Waffle, Nessa, and Mortimer House Kitchen. Yasmin was inspired by Ceci’s time spent in Istanbul.
😋 What to order? Well, I’m going to order the Sumac cured salmon and the Sesame smoked duck before finishing things off with a Baklava ice-cream sandwich. And some drinks…

🍽️ What is it? An environmentally-considered restaurant that has been taking Hackney by storm with an exciting menu that draws inspiration from all around the world.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Sune combines the wine expertise of sommelier Honey Spencer with partner Charlie Sims’s Noma background.
😋 What to order? The menu changes often, but recent hits have included the Pork, Prawn, and Lemongrass, the Sweetbread Burgers, and the grilled potatoes in brown butter sauce (see above).

Los Mochis London City
🍽️ What is it? The newest Los Mochis opening brings the fiery Pan-Pacific Mexican-Japanese fusion to a 9th-floor flagship rooftop restaurant that will stay open all the way until 3am. The new 14,000 square foot venue will be accented by an intimate omakase opening in the summer.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The same team behind Los Mochis Notting Hill, which is a celebrity hotspot counting the likes of Jessica Alba, Paul and Stella McCartney, Solange Knowles, Will Poulter, and more among its fans. Executive Chef Leonard Tanyag comes to Los Mochis City from Nobu.
😋 What to order? Splash out and “Make your own tacos with King Crab Legs and Wagyu Grade 5 Tomahawk Steaks” – elevating the simple meal to a whole new level.

🍽️ What is it? The online breakfast delivery phenom finally received its first brick-and-mortar breakfast bar.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The team behind Bangers have been knocking out banging out their famous breakfast butties for a hot minute now, and the hype has been building ever since they announced their first proper location.
😋 What to order? You have to get their famous smashed sausage® sandwiches, there’s no question about it.

July
🍽️ What is it? July is a new all-day Alsatian wine bar and restaurant inspired by the founders’ upbringings in France and Germany. The venue transitions from coffee and pastries in the morning to seasonal, oft-changing lunch and dinner menus.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The kitchen is being headed up by Holly Hayes, who comes to the venue from the much-loved 40 Maltby Street.
😋 What to order? We’re particularly excited to try their family-style Sunday lunch offering, which brings the French tradition to London in the form of whole roast Fosse Meadows chicken with homemade mayonnaise.

🍽️ What is it? The third restaurant from the trio behind Fallow and FOWL, Roe will futher their no-waste ethos and will feature a living garden wall in the restaurant.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The chefs behind two of London’s most hyped restaurants, Will Murray and Jack Croft, and Chairman James Robson.
😋 What to order? We’re particularly excited by the “new take on the humble Baked Potato”, the Black Pudding and Pork Belly Skewers, and The Roe Mixed Grill (underused cuts from the eponymous venison breed, cooked three different ways).

🍽️ What is it? A pan-Asian new restaurant with eye-catching interiors, a vibrant soundtrack, and creative food.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Chef Paul Greening (Aqua Restaurant Group and Novikov) has been inspired by his travels across Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
😋 What to order? We’ve got our eyes on the stuffed boneless chicken wings with coriander, lime, and ginger miso dipping sauce, as well as the spicy salmon tartare, and the yakiniku beef ribeye with sweet potato nest, onion miso and wasabi furikake.

abc kitchens
🍽️ What is it? A trio of celebrated restaurants under one opulent roof, where intense flavours are derived from “vegetable juices, fruit essences, light broths, and herbal vinaigrettes” rather than meat stocks and cream.
🧑🍳 Who is it? abc kitchens combines three Michelin star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s trilogy of New York restaurants into one extensive offering at The Emory hotel.
😋 What to order? The produce-led menu will no doubt change often, but the New York signatures – Crab Toast with green chilli, dill and lemon aioli, and Char-Grilled Beef Tenderloin served with chimichurri and lime – are must-orders if seen on the menu. We also can’t wait to try the drinks, especially the Cucumber Martini and the Pomegranate Mezcalita.

🍽️ What is it? A new French bistro, inspired by Lyon’s bouchon restaurants.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Michelin-starred Claude Bosi and Lucy Bosi have collaborated on the restaurant, which is named after Claude’s late grandmother.
😋 What to order? Opt for the classics, like the Rabbit in Mustard Sauce or go all in with the set Menu Des Canut, which features Chicken Liver Terrine with Vin Jaune, Lyonnaise Sausages baked in Brioche, and more. Also make sure to sip at the Bouchon-style metre wine, which allows you to only pay for what you drink!

🍽️ What is it? The ground-floor cocktail bar that greets guests arriving at Brazillian rodizio restaurant, Fazenda, has officially launched.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Bar manager Michela Castiglioni has come up with an impressive menu of South American-inspired cocktails.
😋 What to order? The Red Wino is difficult to describe (sort of like a mix of red wine and coke, but far better than that suggests) but very easy to drink. Match it with a wagyu beef empanada and some beef ribs croquettes and you’ll be more than content.

Shanghai Noir
🍽️ What is it? This Indo-Chinese brasserie revisits the comfort food of Indian immigrants with reinterpretations of the fusion of flavours mark the mixing of the cultures.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Executive Chef Amit Bagyal previously worked at Benares and Kanishka by Atul Kochhar, while Head Chef Velino Goes also worked at Kanishka by Atul Kochhar, as well as JKS Group.
😋 What to order? The devil’s chicken lollipop is surely a must-order given the name! We’re also very tempted by the Chef’s Selection, where “the hottest chilli in the world, Bhot Jolakhiya, is prepared with spatchcock chicken and served with a Glenmorangie fire sauce”.

🍽️ What is it? Produce and seasonality dictate the menu at this new Marylebone eatery that celebrates southern European flavours with sophisticated twists.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The powerhouse team also opened the Wild Tavern in Chelsea, and includes Canadian-born restaurateur Daniel Koukarskikh, and chef Luke Ahearne, formerly Head Chef at Corrigan’s Mayfair.
😋 What to order? We’ve got our eyes on the Morels with new season wild garlic and lardo di colonnata, and we’re obviously going to finish our meal with the Rum Baba with charcoal cream chantilly!

🍽️ What is it? Previously known as TT Liquor, TT breathes new life into the rooftop and ground floor restaurant with a smoke-and-fire-forward food menu.
🧑🍳 Who is it? ex-Oren Head Chef, Sam Lone, also worked with ex-Gordon Ramsay alumni at Cabotte before moving on to The Palomar and Two Lights.

🍽️ What is it? Pizza meets cocktails and art in this new Hackney Wick opening with carefully considered interiors and decor.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Napoli-born siblings, chef Arianna and restaurateur Giovanni Izzo, bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and a dedicated pursuit of the perfect Neapolitan pizza.
😋 What to order? This pizzeria has a set menu, allowing you to try a slice of each artisanal pizza topping paired with cocktails.

Three Sheets Soho
🍽️ What is it? The legendary Dalston bar has opened up a second site under the same name in Soho.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Brothers Noel and Max Venning also own and operate a bar in North London, Little Mercies. Three Sheets’ Dalston site currently sits at the seventh position on the recent list of the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail Bars. The new site also offers food from ex-Lyle’s chef and butcher William Blank and coffee from Dead Good Coffee.
😋 What to order? They’ve got most of the classics and a few of their own offerings. New drinks include the Mango Ice Tea (pickled mango, rum, and a mix of teas), and the Scottish Coffee (buttered scotch, salted coffee, and shortbread cream).

Big Night
🍽️ What is it? Food on sticks, more-ish side dishes, and drinks aplenty. Inspired by the yakitori izakayas, but decidedly not Japanese, Big Night is a venue full of good vibes, good booze, and good British food (on sticks).
🧑🍳 Who is it? The duo behind the opening, Jack O’Connor and Joshua Ralphs, met at Peckahm’s Larrys, while Jack was head chef. Between them, they’ve also worked at the likes of Flor, Lasdun, and Jolene.
😋 What to order? As much as possible frankly – we’re keen to try the lamb hearts, the seasonal kimchi, and the miso banoffee. And a few accompanying shots!

Detroit Pizza Islington
🍽️ What is it? A new full-service restaurant and bar serving up “Real American Italian” food, from the people who introduced Londoners to the authentic Detroit-style pizza.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The same team behind the original Detroit Pizza in Spitalfields.
😋 What to order? We’ve got three words for you: deep. fried. lasagna. But don’t miss the titular pizza, either!

64 Old Compton Street
🍽️ What is it? Affordable, but incredible, Italian food in a small family-run restaurant. It’s classic Italian food, in a classic Soho environment, and sleek interiors that belie the value of the seasonal dishes on offer.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The same legendary mind behind the iconic 40 Dean Street, which is just around the corner: Nima Safei.
😋 What to order? The linguine tiger prawns, the Pork & Beef Meatballs, and a White Pizza – with a glass of wine, of course. If you have room at the end, sweeten things up with the Pistachio tiramisu. If you’re after a cocktail opt for the Refuel Martini with watermelon juice, sugar syrup, and Stolichnaya.

The Parakeet
🍽️ What is it? Launched on the site of the landmark pub The Oxford Tavern, following its unfortunate closure, The Parakeet has brought in heavy-weight cooking talent for what just might be some of the best food you can get in a pub. There’s a restaurant hidden away behind the pub, and a separate menu of equally impressive food available in the bar itself.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Head Chef Ben Allen previously worked at the incredible Brat restaurant and was shortlisted as one to watch at the National Restaurant Awards 2023.
😋 What to order? If you’re eating in the bar, munch on the Pork Skewer (it’s PACKED with flavour), the Dressed Oyster (with garnish changing daily), and the Juicy Lucy (a messy, dripping mash-up of a rarebit and a cheeseburger. The restaurant’s menu changes often, so order widely and consult your server for advice. They also do an incredible roast.

Broken Eggs
🍽️ What is it? Spain’s greatest dish (according to our Jack Saddler, and strongly supported by me) the tortilla gets a dedicated restaurant in London. A variety of flavours and sizes make it possible to share with friends or keep them all for yourself!
🧑🍳 Who is it? Sibling duo, Gabriel and Marta Larraz first started Broken Eggs as a Deliveroo exclusive before launching a proper restaurant location.
😋 What to order? Go classic for a truly authentic taste of Spain, or if you want to try a variety, opt for the pintxo.
🗺️ Where is it? 24-25 Foley Street, Fitzrovia, W1W6DX. The nearest station is Goodge Street.

Tendril
🍽️ What is it? A (mostly) vegan kitchen and bar that aims to showcase the possibility of plant-based cooking finds a permanent location after years of cult success pop-ups.Tendril doesn’t rely on meat substitutes, instead the focus is on what plants can and do provide to dishes already. They just really, really like vegetables.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Chef and founder, Rishim Sachdeva, was once a hardcore meat-eater, until a Veganuary challenge turned his life (and opinions) around. However, he can’t resist a bit of cheese – thus why Tendril is ‘mostly’ vegan.
😋 What to order? Opt for the set Discovery Lunch or Discovery Dinner and prepare to never look at vegetables the same way again.

Epicurus
🍽️ What is it? The traditional American diner gets a modern twist with Middle Eastern flavours and inspirations. The likes of smash burgers, ribs, hot dogs and more get made over and “[repainted] with spices, flavours, and ingenuity”.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Co-founders Shiri Kraus and Amir Batito also co-founded the delectable Camden steakhouse The Black Cow, and have worked in such flavour-packed institutions as Palomar and Barbary.
😋 What to order? A burger is a must, as are the Sticky Rack ribs, the Epicurus herb-topped chips, and the Oof Gozal wings with amba mango and scotch bonnet. You also can’t leave without trying one of their alcoholic shakes made with Dondurma Turkish Ice cream. Our choice is the Baklava, Honey and Whisky Shake.

Bar Rioja
🍽️ What is it? It’s a quaint little wine bar dedicated entirely to wines from the Rioja wine-producing region. Don’t be fooled, though, there’s more than just red wine on offer! They also serve up plenty of tapas and small bites, inspired by pincho-style bar snacks from the area’s capital, Logroño.
🧑🍳 Who is it? It’s the newest venture from Camino co-founder Richard Bigg, and replaces the group’s previously much-loved Bar Pepito.
😋 What to order? Try as varied a selection of wines as you can – including the less well-known whites and sparkling wines from Rioja. Be sure to also grab whatever special small platters they have on the day.

🍽️ What is it? Two Drops is a swanky new wine bar with a menu of delicious cheese toasties.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The new opening comes courtesy of Harts Group, who are also responsible for the likes of Quo Vadis, El Pastor, Parrillan, and more.
😋 What to order? A toastie and a glass of wine! Obviously!

🍽️ What is it? a snazzy new fine-dining Italian restaurant with a menu of “elegant and refined risottos”.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Head Chef Andrea Granzarolo has a hefty resume of working in a wealth of Michelin-starred restaurants, including the tree-starred Helene Darroze at the Connaught.
😋 What to order? Risotto of course! For a stunning visual and taste spectacle, opt for the Cuttlefish Ink example – a jet-black risotto with cuttlefish, nduja, and parsley.

Crispin @ Studio Voltaire
🍽️ What is it? a 50-cover restaurant and counter wine bar with an outdoor drinking garden and dining terrace for when the weather warms up.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Another opening from the group that has brought us London’s delightful Crispin bistros and wine bars. The food is being overseen by Head Chef Michael Miles, who joins the group from Counter71 and Manteca.
😋 What to order? Grab a Blackcurrant Negroni or an Apricot Margarita to kick things off before enjoying their impressive wine list and updated bistro-esque fare. Don’t miss the Lasagnette with broad beans and ricotta or the Brown Crab Tagliatelle.

🍽️ What is it? Meaty, smoke-y, BBQ-y wares hit the menu at Five Points’ London brewery and taproom.

😋 What to order? Grab one of the £7 Sea Water Negronis and settle in with a sharing fish board. Oh, and don’t miss the UK’s first Panino di Mare (fish panini)!

🍽️ What is it? An eclectic take on Indian fine dining.
🧑🍳 Who is it? It’s the second restaurant from Chef Shilpa Dandekar, drawing from years of experience in Michelin-star restaurants.

Bar Bruno
🍽️ What is it? A wine shop by day that transforms into an intimate wine bar at night with –checks notes– filled pretzels to snack on.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Bruno is owner Michael Sager’s passion project – you might know his name from the game-changing Sager + Wilde wine bars, and Hackney’s Equal Parts bar.
😋 What to order? A few glasses (or bottles, perhaps) of wine – make good use of the staff’s knowledge – and a few snacks.

Opening later this year
Naturally, there are TONS of other restaurants set to open throughout 2024. Here are a few of the top openings to be aware of when planning your meals out this year.
🌊 The Counter Soho (Soho) – the second The Counter restaurant to hit London brings the flavours of the Aegean to Soho. The venue will also feature a listening bar, Under The Counter, underneath. Opens May 14.
🥘 Kricket (Canary Wharf) – the modern Indian restaurant group’s fourth site will open in the spring, featuring their most-loved dishes and a hefty cocktail bar.
🦞 Chez Roux (Marylebone) – Michel Roux Jr. will open his new restaurant at the Langham on May 22, with a menu of forgotten and maligned dishes from his youth. Expect British classics, French techniques, and plenty of nostalgia.
🌮 El Cenote (Camden) – this new spot is set to be Camden’s new Mexican drinking and dining destination when it opens in the middle of May.
🥬 Cafe Petiole (Strand) – Tendril chef/founder Rishim Sachdeva will open a plant-forward (mostly) vegan café at Somerset House this May.
🍛 Kolamba East (Spitalfields) – Kolamba founders Eroshan and Aushi Meewella will open their second London restaurant this Spring to showcase their modern take on Sri Lankan home-cooking.
🍔 SMSH BN (Soho) – an all-new Wagyu smash burger concept will open on May 20.
🍽️ Plates (Shoreditch) – siblings Kirk and Heeley Haworth will open their first brick-and-mortar restaurant on July 3, following a successful residency in Dalston and Kirk’s “recent crowning as the ‘Champion of Champions’ on BBC 2’s Great British Menu”.
🍻 Albert’s Schloss (Shaftesbury Avenue) – the one-time Rainforest Cafe site will be transformed into an enormous Bavarian bier and pleasure palace this Summer.
🔥 Nela (Queensway) – the Amsterdam-born live fire restaurant will open an enormous restaurant in The Whiteley in the autumn of 2024.
🎶 Undercroft (Mayfair) – This summer will see chef Brad Carter and Martin Priestnall open a restaurant in the crypt of St George’s Church with an emphasis on food, music, and art.
