If there’s one thing you can always depend on in London it’s that there are always new restaurants and bars to try out. Sometimes it feels like you can’t walk down any street twice without seeing a new eatery, deli, or cafe opening up as if from out of nowhere! And naturally, given we’re now in a brand-new year, there are plenty of brand-new restaurants to get excited about. Here are some of the new restaurants that we’ve got on our ‘must-visit’ list this year.
New restaurants opening in July
If you only ever eat at the very newest spots in London, head to one of these new restaurants as they open throughout July. It’s a great month for food!
The Pacific Tavern
🍽️ What is it? an ’80s pub has been restored with a 200-seater beer garden and terrace, and an offering of BBQ food and drink that celebrates New Zealand and the Pacific region.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Founder Toby Kidman, who hails from New Zealand, is celebrating his roots with this new pub.
😋 What to order? The traditional kiwi pie (puff pastry filled with beef and cheddar cheese) is a must. Wash it down with one of their inventive cocktails, like the Hibiscus margarita with tequila, hibiscus and orange.

🍽️ What is it? an intimate restaurant that sees the team “unleashing the power of plants”.
🧑🍳 Who is it? siblings Kirk and Heeley Haworth are opening the restaurant following a Dalston residency and Kirk’s recent success as the “‘Champion of Champions’ on Great British Menu”.
😋 What to order? there are no decisions to be made, just pick which tasting menu you’re going for.

🍽️ What is it? the newest rooftop restaurant concept at One Hundred Shoreditch brings Eastern Mediterranean food to East London.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Head Chef Ilknur Celik’s menu has been inspired by her upbringing in Istanbul.
😋 What to order? Order widely across the cold mezzes (baba ganoush and tabbouleh) and hot mezze plates (feta cheese borek) and don’t miss the grilled octopus.

Rake at The Gun (opens July 13)
🍽️ What is it? The Gun’s latest kitchen residency, following the departure of Ling Ling’s, “is a celebration of British classics and long forgotten recipes, revitalised”.
🧑🍳 Who is it? the team, comprising Jay Claus, Peter Ward, and Syrus Pickhaver boasts a combined 30 years of London restaurant experience across such venerated dining spots as Acme Fire Cult, BRAT, and Quo Vadis.”
😋 What to order? jump into the ‘forgotten classics’ concept with the Chicken Fried John Dory, the Beer Battered Cockles, and the Potted Mushroom.

Holy Carrot (opens July 16)
🍽️ What is it? the low-waste veg-forward eatery opens its first permanent site in the wake of successful residencies and supper clubs.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Founded by Irina Linovich, Executive chef Daniel Watkins (of Acme Fire Cult fame) is the man behind the menus. Cocktails have been devised in partnership with the acclaimed Bar With Shapes For A Name.
😋 What to order? the Smoked carrot and pickled kombu & rose, with fermented chilli butter, and the Matcha “tiramisu”

Harlem Brewing Taproom (opens July 17)
🍽️ What is it? A dedicated taproom for the pioneering American brewery, that sees them partnering with Brixton-based Supercute Brewhouse.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Harlem Brewing was founded by Celeste Beatty, “the first African American woman brewer to launch a commercially distributed craft beer”.
😋 What to order? The “125th Street IPA,” is a hop-forward IPA that tells the story of the brewery.

Lahpet Larder (opens July 20)
🍽️ What is it? classic and regional Burmese cuisine – alongside a larder for home cooks to buy ingredients from Myanmar.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Lahpet Larder is the third opening from Lahpet founders, Dan Anton & Zaw Mahesh, drawing from their “Burmese heritage and love for Myanmar’s rich produce”.
😋 What to order? Dawei Mohinga is a regional version of Burmese fish noodle soup that shouldn’t be missed. Dirty martini fans will want to try the pickled tea oil martini.

Dhakaah (opens July 24)
🍽️ What is it? a new casual dining restaurant bringing “the very best of Bangladeshi cuisine to a London audience”.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Erm… we’re not sure… We can’t find any info on them!
😋 What to order? The focus at Dhakaah is the street food and special dishes of Bangladesh, so opt for the Fuchka – a Bangladeshi version of Pani Puri filled with a spiced potato and chickpea mixture – and the Beef Kathi, “a heavily spiced mezbani beef curry, wrapped in handmade parota”.

Kolamba East (opens this July)
🍽️ What is it? the second restaurant from Kolamba founders, showcasing their modern take on Sri Lankan home cooking with an all new menu.
🧑🍳 Who is it? the same team behind Kolamba in Soho, whose food was inspired by “the recipe books of friends and family members back in Colombo”.
😋 What to order? Start with the Mas Paan – black pork curry filled buns – before sharing the feasting portion of Moor King Prawn String Hopper Biryani. While you eat, sip on the Curry Leaf Gimlet, a clarified cocktail of curry ghee-washed gin and lime.

Ibai
🍽️ What is it? a new Basque-style steak restaurant that focuses on produce from the French Basque region.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Chef Richard Foster was previously the Executive Head Chef at Chiltern Firehouse.
😋 What to order? Well, a steak, obviously. But also make sure to try the Gateau Basque with almond and black cherries for dessert.

CDMX TACOS
🍽️ What is it? an ultra-minimalistic taco spot serving up real-deal Mexican tacos.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The founders spent time in Mexico City to ensure their recipes were up to scratch, and flew in the head chef from Mexico City to boot.
😋 What to order? Go for one of each – it’s up to you if you want them as tacos or quesadillas though. Do not skip the Al Pastor.

El Cenote
🍽️ What is it? Camden’s newest Mexican eatery and bar with an impressive selection of mezcal, tequila and cocktails.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Chef Daniel Sanches hails Mexico City and has previously worked in the likes of Ella Canta. Aima Indigo heads up the bar, where the cocktail menu draws from her Veracruz heritage.
😋 What to order? If you really can’t decide, opt for the Parrillada Cielo, Mar Y Tierra – a sharing platter of platter of beef, shrimp, chicken, and chorizo served with tortillas, and a variety of toppings. If it’s Tuesday, make use of their Taco Tuesday deal where it’s 2-for-1 all day long.

Café Petiole
🍽️ What is it? a mostly vegan cafe tucked away in Somerset House.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Café Petiole comes from Chef Rishim Sachdeva, the chef behind the fancy (also mostly vegan) Mayfair restaurant, Tendril.
😋 What to order? Settle in for lunch with a grilled aubergine sabich with tabbouleh focaccia and the chilli grilled broccoli and rice noodle salad. Or grab a coffee and your choice of pastry. We’re torn between the pineapple galette and the orange and cinnamon babka. (Realistically we’re getting both…)

SMSH BN
🍽️ What is it? an all-new smash burger concept with luxurious wagyu beef patties
🧑🍳 Who is it? 5 friends (friends… not guys…) banded together to create the new burger concept. Chef Mark Morrans has an impressive background creating high-end burgers for all sorts of luxury establishments and restaurants around the world.
😋 What to order? You have to get the titular Wagyu House SMSH BN… No ifs, ands, or buts. Unless you’re vegan, in which case opt for the Vegan SMSH BN.

🍽️ What is it? world-class cocktails and tacos with Asian-influenced fillings.
🧑🍳 Who is it? the same team behind Victory Mansions, which previously occupied the site, have brought us the new venture.
😋 What to order? the tacos… obviously… Don’t miss the addictive ‘MSG’ Fries, either,

Agora & Oma
🍽️ What is it? A duo of restaurants under the same roof, one spilling into Borough Market (Agora), the other tucked away upstairs. Both have been inspired by the Greek isles and dining at local tavernas in Greece. Agora is exclusively walk-ins only, while Oma will take reservations.
🧑🍳 Who is it? A veritable who’s who of London’s dining and maker scene. Cooking talent and founding team come from the likes of Manteca, Kiln, Smokestak, and more, with bread supervised by ex-E5 Head Baker Eyal Schwartz, and an international team of collaborators working across the restaurant.
😋 What to order? If you’re at Agora, start with the flatbread, order a few spreads (don’t skip the hummus) and one of each skewer (you have to try them all) before settling in with the slow-cooked chickpeas, ‘spanokopita’ flatbread, lamb adana (essentially a lamb mince kebab) flatbread, and the rotisseried pork. If you’re at Oma, we have no advice for you – except to order widely.

🍽️ What is it? The duo behind TĀ TĀ Eatery has brought back their iconic sandos, which have seen considerable success across pop-ups, with a 1970s Japanese Americana inspired sando bar.
🧑🍳 Who is it? TĀ TĀ Eatery founders Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng are working together on the new opening.
😋 What to order? Go for the Ibérico Pork Katsu Sando – it’s essentially a classic of the menu now, but it’s still ridiculously indulgent. And then wash it all down with some Pet Nat wine and some fries.

🍽️ What is it? A Peckham Market residency turned brick-and-mortar restaurant celebrating the depth and possibility of Malaysian food.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Chef Abby Lee is easily one of the most exciting chefs currently working in London
😋 What to order? How hungry are you? Because I want to tell you to bring friends and order the whole menu… Whatever you do, don’t miss the Double-Roasted Pork or the Kay Pachok (grilled chicken thigh and heart skewers).

🍽️ What is it? The one-time pop-up gets a second life celebrating lesser-known and hard-to-find dishes that Singaporeans love.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The pop-up that first brought Singapulah to life was also the start of London’s beloved Arôme bakery.
😋 What to order? Enjoy a delicious Singaporean Laksa, and be sure to grab some Fried Chilli Crab Bao and Sambal Fishball Skewers to start.

🍽️ What is it? a new restaurant celebrating the flavours and spices of Thailand, hidden away beneath KOYN Japanese.
🧑🍳 Who is it? restaurateur Samyukta Nair opened the site with Chef Rose Chalalai Singh, who is combining her upbringing in Bangkok with her time in Paris where she ran her Thai-style café, Rose Kitchen.
😋 What to order? The menu changes often, but if it’s available don’t miss the Chian Mai Platter with roasted capsicum relish, crackling pork, northern spiced homemade pork sausage & sticky rice.

🍽️ What is it? the latest opening from the buttermilk fried chicken legends.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Butchies now counts seven London locations to their name.
😋 What to order? The buttermilk fried chicken sandwich of course! It’s up to you which flavour you opt for, though.

🧑🍳 Who is it? Executive Chef Tom Cenci has worked at the likes of Duck & Waffle, Nessa, and Mortimer House Kitchen. Yasmin was inspired by Ceci’s time spent in Istanbul.
😋 What to order? Well, I’m going to order the Sumac cured salmon and the Sesame smoked duck before finishing things off with a Baklava ice-cream sandwich. And some drinks…

🧑🍳 Who is it? The team behind Bangers have been knocking out banging out their famous breakfast butties for a hot minute now, and the hype has been building ever since they announced their first proper location.
😋 What to order? You have to get their famous smashed sausage® sandwiches, there’s no question about it.

🍽️ What is it? July is a new all-day Alsatian wine bar and restaurant inspired by the founders’ upbringings in France and Germany. The venue transitions from coffee and pastries in the morning to seasonal, oft-changing lunch and dinner menus.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The kitchen is being headed up by Holly Hayes, who comes to the venue from the much-loved 40 Maltby Street.
😋 What to order? We’re particularly excited to try their family-style Sunday lunch offering, which brings the French tradition to London in the form of whole roast Fosse Meadows chicken with homemade mayonnaise.

🍽️ What is it? The third restaurant from the trio behind Fallow and FOWL, Roe furthers their no-waste ethos and features a living garden wall in the restaurant.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The chefs behind two of London’s most hyped restaurants, Will Murray and Jack Croft, and Chairman James Robson.
😋 What to order? We’re particularly excited by the “new take on the humble Baked Potato”, the Black Pudding and Pork Belly Skewers, and The Roe Mixed Grill (underused cuts from the eponymous venison breed, cooked three different ways).

🍽️ What is it? A new French bistro, inspired by Lyon’s bouchon restaurants.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Michelin-starred Claude Bosi and Lucy Bosi have collaborated on the restaurant, which is named after Claude’s late grandmother.
😋 What to order? Opt for the classics, like the Rabbit in Mustard Sauce or go all in with the set Menu Des Canut, which features Chicken Liver Terrine with Vin Jaune, Lyonnaise Sausages baked in Brioche, and more. Also make sure to sip at the Bouchon-style metre wine, which allows you to only pay for what you drink!

🍽️ What is it? This Indo-Chinese brasserie revisits the comfort food of Indian immigrants with reinterpretations of the fusion of flavours mark the mixing of the cultures.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Executive Chef Amit Bagyal previously worked at Benares and Kanishka by Atul Kochhar, while Head Chef Velino Goes also worked at Kanishka by Atul Kochhar, as well as JKS Group.
😋 What to order? The devil’s chicken lollipop is surely a must-order given the name! We’re also very tempted by the Chef’s Selection, where “the hottest chilli in the world, Bhot Jolakhiya, is prepared with spatchcock chicken and served with a Glenmorangie fire sauce”.

🍽️ What is it? Produce and seasonality dictate the menu at this new Marylebone eatery that celebrates southern European flavours with sophisticated twists.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The powerhouse team also opened the Wild Tavern in Chelsea, and includes Canadian-born restaurateur Daniel Koukarskikh, and chef Luke Ahearne, formerly Head Chef at Corrigan’s Mayfair.
😋 What to order? We’ve got our eyes on the Morels with new season wild garlic and lardo di colonnata, and we’re obviously going to finish our meal with the Rum Baba with charcoal cream chantilly!

🍽️ What is it? Previously known as TT Liquor, TT breathes new life into the rooftop and ground floor restaurant with a smoke-and-fire-forward food menu.

🍽️ What is it? Pizza meets cocktails and art in this new Hackney Wick opening with carefully considered interiors and decor.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Napoli-born siblings, chef Arianna and restaurateur Giovanni Izzo, bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and a dedicated pursuit of the perfect Neapolitan pizza.
😋 What to order? This pizzeria has a set menu, allowing you to try a slice of each artisanal pizza topping paired with cocktails.

Three Sheets Soho
🍽️ What is it? The legendary Dalston bar has opened up a second site under the same name in Soho.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Brothers Noel and Max Venning also own and operate a bar in North London, Little Mercies. Three Sheets’ Dalston site currently sits at the seventh position on the recent list of the UK’s Top 50 Cocktail Bars.
😋 What to order? They’ve got most of the classics and a few of their own offerings. New drinks include the Mango Ice Tea (pickled mango, rum, and a mix of teas), and the Scottish Coffee (buttered scotch, salted coffee, and shortbread cream).

🍽️ What is it? Food on sticks, more-ish side dishes, and drinks aplenty. Inspired by the yakitori izakayas, but decidedly not Japanese, Big Night is a venue full of good vibes, good booze, and good British food (on sticks).
🧑🍳 Who is it? The duo behind the opening, Jack O’Connor and Joshua Ralphs, met at Peckahm’s Larrys, while Jack was head chef. Between them, they’ve also worked at the likes of Flor, Lasdun, and Jolene.
😋 What to order? As much as possible frankly – we’re keen to try the lamb hearts, the seasonal kimchi, and the miso banoffee. And a few accompanying shots!

🍽️ What is it? A new full-service restaurant and bar serving “Real American Italian” food, from the people who introduced Londoners to the authentic Detroit-style pizza.

😋 What to order? We’ve got three words for you: deep. fried. lasagna. But don’t miss the titular pizza, either!

🍽️ What is it? Two Drops is a swanky new wine bar with a menu of delicious cheese toasties.

🍽️ What is it? a snazzy new fine-dining Italian restaurant with a menu of “elegant and refined risottos”.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Head Chef Andrea Granzarolo has a hefty resume of working in a wealth of Michelin-starred restaurants, including the tree-starred Helene Darroze at the Connaught.
😋 What to order? Risotto of course! For a stunning visual and taste spectacle, opt for the Cuttlefish Ink example – a jet-black risotto with cuttlefish, nduja, and parsley.

Crispin @ Studio Voltaire
🍽️ What is it? a 50-cover restaurant and counter wine bar with an outdoor drinking garden and dining terrace for when the weather warms up.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Another opening from the group that has brought us London’s delightful Crispin bistros and wine bars. The food is being overseen by Head Chef Michael Miles, who joins the group from Counter71 and Manteca.

🍕 Alley Cats (Chelsea) – the viral New York-style pizzeria will open their second site in early August.
🎣 Cornus (Belgravia) – a rooftop fine-dining restaurant showcasing”the bounty of British seasonal produce through precise and vibrant cookery”. Opens August.
🥟 Eat Momo (Borough Yards) – sisters Trishna and Dipa Chamling, are bringing Nepalese food to Borough Yards, paying tribute to their childhood in Nepal and their passion for… the tradition and rituals of Momo-making. Opens August.
🍖 Kanpai Classic (Soho) – Kanpai Classic is legendary in Taiwan and China for its Michelin-Stared yakiniku concept restaurant group with charcoal grilled meat and beer. They’ll open their first site in London this September.
🍻 The Blue Stoops (Kensington) – a new pub from the team behind Allsopp’s Brewery, which first invented the India Pale Ale (IPA), opens in September.
🍽️ Marceline (Canary Wharf) – a brasserie-style eatery combining influences from Paris and New York. Opens this August.
🦐 Wildflowers (Belgravia) – bringing a taste of the Mediterranean, with global influences and a focus on seasonality, to London this autumn.
🔥 Nela (Queensway) – the Amsterdam-born live fire restaurant will open an enormous restaurant in The Whiteley in the autumn of 2024.
🎶 Undercroft (Mayfair) – September 5 will see chef Brad Carter and Martin Priestnall open a restaurant in the crypt of St George’s Church with an emphasis on food, music, and art.
