2. Escritório de Carvão
Ao lado da Granary Square e do Coal Drops Yard, o Coal Office é uma colaboração entre o renomado Chef Assaf Granit – proprietário do restaurante parisiense Shabourand, que ganhou uma estrela Michelin no ano passado – e o designer britânico Tom Dixon. Foi concebido para refletir as tradições únicas e envolventes que se encontram em todo o Médio Oriente e no Mediterrâneo, e a comida é apenas a cereja no topo do bolo.
A comida é a cereja no topodo bolo.É uma das melhores comidas do Médio Oriente que encontrará em qualquer parte da cidade e inclui tudo, desde beringela assada com tahini a truta curada com creme de rábano. 3. Hicce
Este local moderno e arejado em Coal Drops Yard é copropriedade de Pip Lacey, vencedor do Great British Menu em 2017, que também treinou no Murano, com estrela Michelin, e fez ondas desde que abriu suas portas pela primeira vez em 2018. É tudo uma sala de jantar com tijolos expostos, grandes tectos abobadados e vibrações industriais-chiques – e nós estamos mais do que aqui para isso.
Como seria de esperar, o Hicce é o anfitrião de uma cozinha fantástica, com um menu que muda sazonalmente e que utiliza o “melhor do Reino Unido“. A nossa melhor escolha seria o menu “Hicce Experience”, que inclui salmão curado com wasabi, tártaro de alabote com alcachofras de Jerusalém e uma mousse de chocolate com amêndoas e maracujá, entre muitas outras guloseimas. Se gostou de jantar aqui, não se esqueça de ir ao Hicce Hart, em Angel, que serve um assado de ar romba e um Bloody Mary dos diabos!

4. Casa Pastor e Plaza Pastor
O próximo nesta lista de restaurantes em King’s Cross é um conjunto duplo de taquerias que trazem uma fatia do México até a cidade de Londres. Com o nome do poderoso “Al Pastor” – que é o petisco de rua preferido na Cidade do México – estes locais animados são excelentes não só para tacos, mas também quesadillas, tostadas, tequila e mezcal. Ao folhear o menu do Arabica, descobrirá que uma miscelânea de saborosos meze anda de mãos dadas com kofte e shish kebabs, e o “Spring Freekeh ” – um risotto de trigo verde fumado com favas, espargos, limão, endro e amêndoas torradas – vale bem a pena experimentar. Pratos de massa como o tagliolini de gema de 30 ovos com trufa preta e Parmigiano Reggiano, ou o rigatoni com borrego braseado, alecrim, pecorino e gremolata, são melhor regados com grandes quantidades de focaccia acabada de fazer. A filial de King’s Cross é a mais recente – abriu as portas em fevereiro de 2020 – e os seus interiores inspiram-se na rota costeira bem percorrida desde a capital do Sri Lanka, Colombo, até à histórica cidade holandesa de Galle.
Como seria de esperar deste local tão apreciado, a comida aqui confeccionada é soberba e repleta de sabores e especiarias. Dado o nome e a cozinha, as escolhas óbvias são o “hopper” – uma panqueca em forma de taça feita de massa de arroz fermentado e leite de coco – e o “dosa”, um pão fino e achatado feito de arroz moído e lentilhas.
Acrescente o caril de caranguejo nadador, o dhal e o chutney e terá uma refeição que preenche todos os requisitos.

8. Barrafina
Sempre popular, o Barrafina já foi nomeado o “melhor restaurante da Grã-Bretanha” no National Restaurant Awards, e também garantiu uma estrela Michelin. Quando provar a sua tortilha, vai perceber porquê. Com cebolas caramelizadas e um centro tão escorrendo que você poderia espalhá-lo no pão – é provavelmente o melhor pincho que você vai comer fora da Espanha.

No Mildred’s, a sua comida à base de plantas vem sob a forma de caril do Sri Lanka, hambúrgueres de halloumi e até mesmo um cheesecake de caramelo pegajoso com coulis de amora e uma pitada de pipocas de caramelo.
Recentemente, anunciaram o seu “Menu de primavera”, que inclui pratos sazonais como ervilhas, espinafres e batatas fritas, uma taça de quinoa e alma de milho doce, e os seus famosos cachorros quentes katsu. Quem disse que comer limpo era aborrecido, claramente nunca comeu aqui…

11. Kimchee
Com uma localização central mesmo no coração de St Pancras Square, o Kimchee é um ótimo local se estiver à procura de comida coreana autên tica. Chique, elegante e com estilo, é uma escolha sólida se estiver à procura de uma paragem para almoçar ou jantar, e a comida é muito boa.
Quer se trate do atraente udon de tofu, do picante ‘Dwenjang Jjigae’ com infusão de malagueta ou do bife de entrecosto, a escolha é muito variada, e também há uma série de pequenos pratos para partilhar. Ok, tecnicamente o Roti King fica em Euston. Mas, em nossa defesa, fica a menos de dez minutos a pé de King’s Cross, o que, na nossa opinião, conta. Além disso, a comida aqui é tão boa que não podemos parar de gritar sobre este lugar. Também é BYOB e é muito barato – vencedor, vencedor!
É um pequeno local malaio que muitas vezes tem filas ao virar da esquina – o que mostra o quão popular este lugar é. O roti canai é a atração principal aqui, mas há muito mais para oferecer neste localcom certificação halal.
O ‘Nasi Lemak’ – arroz de côco cozido a vapor servido com amendoins, anchovas fritas, pepino, ovo, sambal e frango frito com especiarias – é de morrer, e há também alguns excelentes pratos de massa.

13. Dishoom
Se está à procura de restaurantes indianos em King’s Cross, não pode errar com o Dishoom.
