If there’s one thing you can always depend on in London it’s that there are always new restaurants and bars to try out. Sometimes it feels like you can’t walk down any street twice without seeing a new eatery, deli, or cafe opening up as if from out of nowhere! And naturally, given we’re now in a brand-new year, there are plenty of brand-new restaurants to get excited about. Here are some of the new restaurants that we’ve got on our ‘must-visit’ list this year:
New restaurants opening in April
Mimosa (Opened this April)
🍽️ What is it? A slice of the French Riviera, French restaurant Mimosa opens its first international outpost in London, taking over from Roux at The Landau in early 2024.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Mimosa is already renowned in Paris – and their reputation is sure to only be bolstered by their London offering.
😋 What to order? It’s all about the sharing plates at Mimosa. We recommend the whole sea bass baked in salt crust and the “Riviera” style spit-roast corn-fed coquelet.

UBA (April 2)
🍽️ What is it? A pan-Asian new restaurant with eye-catching interiors, a vibrant soundtrack, and creative food.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Chef Paul Greening (Aqua Restaurant Group and Novikov) has been inspired by his travels across Tokyo, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
😋 What to order? We’ve got our eyes on the stuffed boneless chicken wings with coriander, lime, and ginger miso dipping sauce, as well as the spicy salmon tartare, and the yakiniku beef ribeye with sweet potato nest, onion miso and wasabi furikake. If you’re there between April 2-7, you’ll be treated to 25% off your bill and a complimentary cocktail.

Agora/Oma (April 2/April 16)
🍽️ What is it? A duo of restaurants under the same roof, one spilling into Borough Market (Agora), the other tucked away upstairs. Both have been inspired by the Greek isles and dining at local tavernas in Greece. Agora is exclusively walk-ins only, while Oma will take reservations.
🧑🍳 Who is it? A veritable who’s who of London’s dining and maker scene. Cooking talent and founding team come from the likes of Manteca, Kiln, Smokestak, and more, with bread supervised by ex-E5 Head Baker Eyal Schwartz, and an international team of collaborators working across the restaurant.
😋 What to order? If you’re at Agora, start with the flatbread, order a few spreads (don’t skip the hummus) and one of each skewer (you have to try them all) before settling in with the slow-cooked chickpeas, ‘spanokopita’ flatbread, lamb adana (essentially a lamb mince kebab) flatbread, and the rotisseried pork. If you’re at Oma, we have no advice for you – except order widely.

TÓU ( April 4)
🍽️ What is it? The duo behind TĀ TĀ Eatery is bringing back their iconic sandos, which have seen considerable success across pop-ups, with a 1970s Japanese Americana inspired sando bar.
🧑🍳 Who is it? TĀ TĀ Eatery founders Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng are working together on the new opening.
😋 What to order? Go for the Ibérico Pork Katsu Sando – it’s essentially a classic of the menu now, but it’s still ridiculously indulgent. And then wash it all down with some Pet Nat wine and some fries.

abc kitchens (April 4)
🍽️ What is it? A trio of celebrated restaurants under one opulent roof, where intense flavours are derived from “vegetable juices, fruit essences, light broths, and herbal vinaigrettes” rather than meat stocks and cream.
🧑🍳 Who is it? abc kitchens combines three Michelin star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s trilogy of New York restaurants into one extensive offering at The Emory hotel.
😋 What to order? The produce-led menu will no doubt change often, but the New York signatures – Crab Toast with green chilli, dill and lemon aioli, and Char-Grilled Beef Tenderloin served with chimichurri and lime – are must-orders if seen on the menu. We also can’t wait to try the drinks, especially the Cucumber Martini and the Pomegranate Mezcalita.

Carmel (April 8)
🍽️ What is it? London’s second Carmel will land in Fitzrovia with its typical array of eastern Mediterranean flavours and left-of-field pasta dishes.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The team behind the two Carmel restaurants also run the much-loved Berber & Q. The kitchen will be run by Jeremey Borrow, formerly the head chef at The Palomar.
😋 What to order? Opt for at least one of the flatbreads that are one of the favourites from the Queen’s Park location, and we’ll be ordering at least three of the dried lime, sage and rose Negronis.

Yasmin (April 9)
🍽️ What is it? A hidden Soho rooftop restaurant and bar with a wrap-around terrace serving Middle Eastern sharing plates and sundowner cocktails.
🧑🍳 Who is it? Executive Chef Tom Cenci has worked at the likes of Duck & Waffle, Nessa, and Mortimer House Kitchen. Yasmin was inspired by Ceci’s time spent in Istanbul.
😋 What to order? Well, I’m going to order the Sumac cured salmon and the Sesame smoked duck before finishing things off with a Baklava ice-cream sandwich. And some drinks…

Los Mochis London City (April 11)
🍽️ What is it? The newest Los Mochis opening brings the fiery Pan-Pacific Mexican-Japanese fusion to a 9th-floor flagship rooftop restaurant that will stay open all the way until 3am. The new 14,000 square foot venue will be accented by an intimate omakase opening in the summer.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The same team behind Los Mochis Notting Hill, which is a celebrity hotspot counting the likes of Jessica Alba, Paul and Stella McCartney, Solange Knowles, Will Poulter, and more among its fans. Executive Chef Leonard Tanyag comes to Los Mochis City from Nobu.
😋 What to order? Splash out and “Make your own tacos with King Crab Legs and Wagyu Grade 5 Tomahawk Steaks” – elevating the simple meal to a whole new level.

Bangers (April 19)
🍽️ What is it? The online breakfast delivery phenom gets their first brick-and-mortar breakfast bar.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The team behind Bangers have been knocking out banging out their famous breakfast butties for a hot minute now, and the hype has been building ever since they announced their first proper location.
😋 What to order? You have to get their famous smashed sausage® sandwiches, there’s no question about it. Turn up on opening weekend and you could nab a free one, too, since they’re giving away 100 free sandwiches a day (original or veggie) every day from April 19 – 22.

Lina Stores South Kensington (April 19)
🍽️ What is it? The newest Lina Stores opening with an all-day restaurant and a large outdoor terrace. Expect the usual array of breakfast in the mornings and all sorts of pasta, antipasti, secondi, and more throughout the rest of the day.
🧑🍳 Who is it? It’s Lina Stores – you know them; they’re the green Italian delis and restaurants all around London.
😋 What to order? Whichever of their fresh handmade pasta dishes grabs your eye – and a few other plates to nibble on, naturally. But you won’t need our help ordering here…

July (April 25)
🍽️ What is it? July is a new all-day Alsatian wine bar and restaurant inspired by the founders’ upbringings in France and Germany. The venue will transition from coffee and pastries in the morning to seasonal, oft-changing lunch and dinner menus.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The kitchen is being headed up by Holly Hayes, who comes to the venue from the much-loved 40 Maltby Street.
😋 What to order? We’re particularly excited to try their family-style Sunday lunch offering, which brings the French tradition to London in the form of whole roast Fosse Meadows chicken with homemade mayonnaise.

Roe (late April)
🍽️ What is it? The third restaurant from the trio behind Fallow and FOWL, Roe will futher their no-waste ethos and will feature a living garden wall in the restaurant.
🧑🍳 Who is it? The chefs behind two of London’s most hyped restaurants, Will Murray and Jack Croft, and Chairman James Robson.
😋 What to order? We’re particularly excited by the “new take on the humble Baked Potato”, the Black Pudding and Pork Belly Skewers, and The Roe Mixed Grill (underused cuts from the eponymous venison breed, cooked three different ways).

Opening later this year
Naturally, there are TONS of other restaurants set to open throughout 2024. Here are a few of the top openings to be aware of when planning your meals out this year.
🧀 Two Drops (Battersea) – the little sibling to Coal Drops Yard’s The Drop Bar will serve up cheese toasties and drinks once it opens in May.
🥘 all’onda (Fitzrovia) – a new fine dining Italian restaurant set to open on May 2. Named for a risotto cooking technique the menu will feature “elegant and refined risottos”.
🌊 The Counter Soho (Soho) – the second London restaurant from celebrated Turkish chef and The Counter founder, Kemal Demirasal, brings the flavours of the Aegean to Soho. The venue will also feature a listening bar, Under The Counter, underneath.
🥘 Kricket (Canary Wharf) – the modern Indian restaurant group’s fourth site will open in the spring, featuring their most-loved dishes and a hefty cocktail bar.
🍽️ Plates (Shoreditch) – siblings Kirk and Heeley Haworth will open their first brick and mortar restaurant on July 3, following a successful residency in Dalston and Kirk’s “recent crowning as the ‘Champion of Champions’ on BBC 2’s Great British Menu”.
🍻 Albert’s Schloss (Shaftesbury Avenue) – the one-time Rainforest Cafe site will be transformed into an enormous Bavarian bier and pleasure palace this Summer.
🔥 Nela (Queensway) – the Amsterdam-born live fire restaurant will open an enormous restaurant in The Whiteley in the autumn of 2024.
Recently opened new restaurants
But it’s not just upcoming openings that we’re excited about – there are also plenty of new restaurants that opened recently that we’re excited to try out. Here are some of London’s newest openings that we can’t wait to check out:
🍷 Crispin @ Studio Voltaire (Clapham) – the founder of the Crispin bistros and wine bars has launched a new 50-cover restaurant and counter wine bar. The site will also feature an outdoor drinking garden, and a dining terrace when the weather warms up.
🍖 From The Ashes (Hackney) – following a courtyard residency last yar, From The Ashes have settled in permanently with their meaty smoky wares at Five Points’ London brewery and taproom.
🎣 Fish and Bubbles (Notting Hill) – presenting the UK’s first Panino di Mare (fish panini), this eatery focuses on fish, aperitivo, and good vibes. They also serve up £7 Sea Water Negronis and sharing fish boards by the metre.
🍸 Three Sheets Soho (Soho… duh) – the vaunted Dalston bar opens a sister site in Soho with an expanded food offering and a unique cocktail menu.
🤤 Crumble Mania (Croydon) – one of the newest BOXPARK traders, expect an inventive and seemingly endless array of toppings for these decadent crumbles.
🍕 Unlock (Hackney Wick) – pizza, cocktails, and art combine in this chic new eatery with a pizza tasting menu.
🔥 Shanghai Noir (Westminster) – an Indo-Chinese brasserie serving the comfort fusion food of cross-cultural immigration.
🦐 Lita (Marylebone) – southern European food gets a sophisticated twist in this produce-driven new restaurant.
🍟 Funky Chips (Wembley) – BOXPARK’s latest addition to their food traders serves up truly over-the-top mountains of loaded fries that have demanded hour-long queues in the past.
🍽️ Apple Butter (Westminster) – the Instagram-dominating, queue-demanding brunch spot opens up a second location for their hugely popular food – this time with an all-day dining experience.
🍹 TT (Shoreditch) – formerly known as TT Liquor, TT represents a more grown-up, food-focused iteration of the site.
🥖 Tigella (Peckham) – Peckham’s latest Italian venue is a couple-run resturant that specialises in the flavours of Emilia Romagna, Italy. Their claim to fame is the titular tigelle – daily-baked Italian flatbreads to pair with salumi.
🍷 Josephine (Fulham Road) – a neighbourhood French bistro inspired by Lyon, with Bouchon-style metre wine.
🍲 Cinnamon Bazaar Richmond (Richmond… obvs) – the latest Cinnamon Collection restaurant is inspired by traditional Indian bazaars and features a roaming chaat trolley.
🍻 Nancy Spains (Shoreditch) – London’s newest authentic Irish bar, but they’ve got Murphy’s on tap instead of Guinness!
🔥 Mambow (Clapton) – explore the depth and possibility of Malaysian food at this Peckham Market residency turned brick-and-mortar restaurant from one of London’s most exciting chefs, Abby Lee.
🍷 Alfi (Spitalfields) – a pubby take on a wine bar, with wine-dispensing taps far outnumbering the beer, and food from a lava stone robata grill.
🍲 Singapulah (Chinatown) – what started life as a pop-up that birthed London’s beloved Arôme bakery gets a second life to celebrate lesser-known and hard-to-find dishes that Singaporeans love. Also houses a retail site for Singaporean products and ingredients.
🌮 Trejo’s Tacos (Notting Hill) – the Anthony-Bourdain approved tacos from the Hollywood superstar land in West London at one of London’s most anticipated new restaurants.
🥢 YiQi (Chinatown) – a new two-floor restaurant from seasoned Chinatown restaurateurs and chefs with a handpicked menu of dishes from across Southeast Asia.
🎣 Morchella (Clerkenwell) – the team behind Perilla opens up a new restaurant with modern Mediterranean sharing plates.
🌊 Bellazul (Marylebone) – diners are transported to the Mediterranean shores with food and vibes coming straight from Southern Europe. Dishes draw inspiration from all around the area, from Italy to Greece and even Morocco.
🍢 Big Night (Hackney) – food on sticks is the focus at this restaurant that is conceptually inspired by the yakitori izakayas, but decidedly not Japanese in the food itself. Big Night opened in early January with good vibes, good booze, and good British food (on sticks).
👨🍳 Francatelli (St James’s) – superstar chef William Drabble’s new restaurant draws inspiration from his culinary idol Charles Elmé Francatelli. Francatelli was the author of the 1846 cookbook/gastronomy bible ‘The Modern Cook’ and was Queen Victoria’s head chef.
🍕 Detroit Pizza Islington (Islington… duh) – London’s beloved Detroit-style pizza vendors open up a restaurant with Italian American classics like deep-fried lasagna, HUGE meatballs, and more. Oh, and plenty of their thiccccc eponymous pizzas, of course!
🍾 Mistress (Mayfair) – an ultra-swanky Parisian-inspired restaurant and after-hours lounge “for those that relish the finer things in life”. Expect champagne, steak, oysters, and hefty prices.
🍣 Juno (Notting Hill) – “the smallest and most intimate Omakase restaurant in London” boasts just six seats, and opened in early January above Los Mochis. Executive Chef Leonard Tanyag has worked at OKKU and Zuma, and Head Sushi Chef Han has worked at Nobu and Roka.
🥘 Pravaas (South Kensington) – Chef Shilpa Dandekar’s second restaurant offers up an eclectic mix of dishes that draw from years of experience in Michelin-star restaurants. Expect the likes of wasabi chicken tikka, slow-cooked venison ribs, and more.
🍔 Whyte’s (Hackney) – the pop-up legend that is Whyte Rushen settled into a permanent location in December of 2023 with a food menu as exciting as his pop-ups would have you expect.
🍷 Bar Bruno (Victoria Park) – A wine shop by day that transforms into an intimate wine bar at night with -checks notes- filled pretzels to snack on.
🌏 Sune (Hackney) – a sprawling food menu with feet in all manner of continents tied up its many influences into a wholly acclaimed offering thanks to the expertise of sommelier Honey Spencer and partner Charlie Sims (who previously worked at none other than the famed Noma).
🥐 Capilungo (Covent Garden) – “a new cafe and wine bar inspired by the cafés found along the winding streets of Puglia’s picturesque city, Lecce.” Capilungo opened in mid-December and is a simply charming spot for a pastry, a coffee, or a relaxed drink.
🍣 INÉ By Taku (Hampstead) – the team behind the Michelin-starred Taku Mayfair opened a new restaurant back in December of 2023. INÉ By Taku features a contemporary Japanese a la carte menu, premium sushi, and a 15-course Omakase menu at the 8-seat counter.
