The platitudes just keep on rolling in for London. This week a bunch of London restaurants made it into a list of the best restaurants in the world. Our incredible array of free attractions saw London being named the best European city for travelling on a budget. Oh, and we’re also the most popular Christmas destination in the world (according to Instagram). As if that wasn’t enough, after being recognised as the best city in Europe this summer – for the second year in a row, no less, London has also been crowned the World’s Best City for 2025.
Yup, it truly is as simple as that. London is officially the best city in the world. For the tenth year in a row, the annual ranking by consultant group Resonance of the top cities on Earth has placed London at the tippity-top of the tree.
London saw off typically strong competition from the likes of New York City and Paris, which took the second and third positions respectively. Our fine city was the only one to take the top spot across seven of Resonance’s 28 subcategories that are used to rank the cities. According to Resonance, we’re the top city in the world when it comes to ‘Nightlife‘, ‘Museums‘, and more.
London was praised for its investment potential and its resilient spirit. Resonance also recognised our city’s “magnetic draw for people from all walks of life”. Everyone from students to tourists and business leaders flock to London. Our beloved Elizabeth Line got a shout-out, too, with Resonance deeming it “one of the most ambitious projects to boost connectivity across the capital”.
