Europe is an absolute treasure trove of twinkling cultural gems, and with so many enchanting, culture-drenched cities ready to be explored; it’s difficult to know which destination should be fast-tracked straight to the top of your city break list.
To make it easier for everybody, The Social Hub took one for the team and analysed the 50 top-rated cities in Europe and we don’t want to brag (okay, we absolutely do) but London did pretty darn well.
The continents best-loved cities were put under the microscope and ranked on factors including the amount of historic activities available, the number of museums and theatre shows on offer, and how many visitors keep coming back for more.
Here at Secret London, we obviously already knew that our beloved capital city was worthy of wearing the cultural crown, but it’s nice to have it in writing, you know?
London is bursting at the seams with things to do and boasts a whopping 791 cultural and historical activities for curious adventurers to get stuck in to. Whether you fancy a wondrous walking tour, a magical musical, or a mosey round one of the many museums we have to offer; there really is something for everybody to enjoy.
Talking of museums and galleries, did we mention that we have a staggering 235 of them? And that most of them are free? Not bad, right? London is also home to a vibrant and exciting arts scene and currently has 208 theatre events on offer.
Throw in London’s impressive list of landmarks and heritage sites plus the 74 mouth-watering Michelin star restaurants scattered across town; it’s no wonder our sensational city has come out on top as far as culture is concerned. Okay, we’ll stop showing off (for now).
With the German capital being a close runner-up, it’s pretty convenient that this handy new sleeper train route between London and Berlin has recently been launched, hey?
