The London Eid Festival returns to London this weekend for its fifth Eid al-Fitr celebration. And this year, it’s bigger than ever before, stretching across multiple locations to become Europe’s largest Eid festival. Celebrating the end of Ramadan, it’s a lively celebration uniting London’s communities.
The London Eid Festival kicked off at Westfield London last weekend, running from April 12-14 with an exciting agenda full of “fashion, fragrance, food and live entertainment offering” and more. But they’re not stopping there! The festival will return this weekend, making its way over to Westfield Stratford City for a whole ‘nother weekend of festivities from April 19-21.
Oh, and to ensure that everyone can celebrate – entry to the festival is completely free!
Everyone is invited to join in the celebrations, with all sorts of live performances on the agenda to keep attendees entertained. These will range from comedians to Sufi musicians, live DJs, and beyond. There will also be henna stations, live art presentations, and watercolour painting workshops from award-winning artist, Maaida Noor.
Across a variety of food stalls and special offerings, the festival will showcase hundreds of brands that come from eight different countries around the world. And they’re expecting it to be a BIG celebration. Initial estimates suggest that more than 300,000 visitors could flock to the festivities. That would mean crowds rivalling Boxing Day shopping numbers!
The team behind the festival
The London Eid Festival is the handiwork of events company, Algebra Consulting. They’ve spent over 15 years bringing Muslim culture and celebration to the global stage. The company aims to “not only celebrate the rich tapestry of Muslim culture but also foster deep, meaningful connections across diverse communities.”
Said Waleed Jahangir, Managing Director at Algebra Consulting:
“Year after year, the London Eid Festival at Westfield has blossomed, and it’s a joy to see. It’s not just about the size of the event, which has now expanded to Westfield Stratford City, but the heart, as the community and Westfield has been instrumental in this success. As organisers, we’re not just putting on a festival; we’re at the forefront of celebrating and shaping the Muslim consumer landscape. Proud and grateful, we’re ready to share this year’s bigger, vibrant Eid celebration with everyone.”
