Our diaries have already been filled to the brim with Taylor Swift-based activities this year. We’ve had candlelight concerts entirely dedicated to her, the release of her highly anticipated new album, The Tortured Poets Department, and – of course – the sold out London dates of her ‘Eras’ tour. But Swifties, the fun doesn’t stop there, because we’ve got another item for you to add to your Tay-do lists: a visit to her favourite kebab shop in the city. Yes, really.
Kentish Delight is a rather modest kebab joint in Kentish Town. Fairly unassuming upon first glance; the spot isn’t exactly somewhere you’d expect pop royalty to regularly visit. But that’s where you’d be utterly mistaken.
It’s reported that Taylor used to frequently visit the north London kebab shop with her British ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. Yes indeed, the very same ex-boyfriend that Swift’s latest album is supposedly written about. Kentish Delight was featured in her ‘End Game’ music video, released back in 2017. According to the people who work at Kentish Delight, Swift was a regular visitor before and after shooting the video.
Having been the kebab shop’s first brush with fame, they’re understandably very proud. Pictures of Taylor Swift visiting the takeaway spot adorn the walls, and the servers are happy to gush about their connection with the pop princess. Taylor’s go-to kebab order is apparently a chicken shish, with lashings of chilli sauce and plenty of salad. And they must be serving up some pretty delicious grub, as Swift has declared Kentish Delight as the best kebab in London. High praise, indeed.
It’s been rumoured that Swift has put in a rather hefty order at Kentish Delight in advance of the first of her seven sold-out Wembley Arena shows on Friday (June 21). She has supposedly ordered 45 chicken doner kebabs for her and her team, costing around £450 in total. What a way to start her London run, hey?
I’m not entirely sure which is a more highly-anticipated event; Taylor finally arriving in the capital for her Wembley shows, or the wait for my kebab after a night out. But either way, in answer to Taylor’s 2017 question – yes, we are very much ready for it.
