And just when you thought the London food scene couldn’t get any better… Someone decided to throw a pizza festival. Yep that’s right, 5 hours of back-to-back cheese munching and crust crunching, washed down with negronis, Italian wines and Beavertown beers.
Italian big dogs Francesco and Salvatore Salvo are flying in especially from Naples to serve up their acclaimed versions of the two Neapolitan classics: Pizza Margherita and Pizza Cosacca. And as if that wasn’t enough, the top 5 UK pizzerias will also battle it out for your vote. So basically, you’re going to be eating a lot of pizza.
We’re backing the boys at SUD Italia, who we’ve written about before. But hot contenders for the prize are also Yard Sale Pizza, Made of Dough, as well as Bertha’s from Bristol and Manchester’s Honest Crust. And judging by the latter’s offering of smoked pig’s cheek, kale, chilli, mozzarella, pecorino and garlic pizza (YUM), it’s going to be a tight one…
One ticket to the event costs £30 and it gets you free entry, six quarters of pizza and a beer or soft drink. If this sounds nice and tasty (and to be honest, how could it not?!) then get yourself a ticket here.
The London Pizza Festival will take place on the 13th September at Jubilee Palace at Borough Market, SE1 1TL.
