We’ve made a list of London’s best vegetarian burgers that are good enough to make anyone (yes, anyone) drool.
Burgers are always a winning dinner, and they are by no means exclusive to the carnivorous scoffers amongst us. There are some seriously tasty veggie burgers in the city, and they aren’t all* made of beans…
*some of them are made of beans.

1. Coqfighter
Although Coqfighter is primarily known for its fried chicken, their vegan burger is shamefully underrated. Made with a fried chickn fillet, Umeboshi buffalo sauce, candied jalapeño mayo, house pickles and shredded iceberg, it’s just as good as the real thing. Many of their sides are also vegetarian or vegan, including the cheesy corn, the daikon salad and, of course, the fries topped with dashi and smoked paprika salt.
📍 Soho, Shoreditch and Croydon
2. Dirty Burger
As a casual dig to vegetarianism, they’ve named their veggie burger the Dirty Cop-out. But they haven’t copped out on the burger itself. It’s a portobello ‘shroom covered in smoked applewood cheese and topped with pickles, rocket and tarragon mayonnaise. Give the onion fries a go, too! They also have two other veggie burgers: a spinach, parmesan and potato patty or a beetroot and fennel patty.

3. Biff’s
Everything at Biff’s is vegan, so veggies are spoilt for choice. Even I, a non-vegetarian, consider it to be up there with the best in the business. There are so many burgers to choose from, but I’d opt for The Big Jack if you’re after a standard, no-frills burger, or the classic Samuel Hell Jackson for crispy fried jackfruit with chipotle slaw, maple chipotle hot sauce, jalapeños, American cheeze and BBQ sauce.
📍 Dalston
4. Other Side Fried
Another fried chicken joint with a vegan burger worth shouting about – who’d’ve thunk? Called the Vegan Buffalo Burger, it’s a delightful combo of fried chik’n, ranch sauce, hot sauce, pickles and lettuce. It’s also worth trying the Vegan Dirty Tots with “bacon” bits, ranch sauce and hot sauce.
📍 Various locations
5. The Vurger Co.
The Vurger Co. has been making kickass vegan burgers since 2016, but they’ve just added a new one to the menu: the Buffalo Vurger with buffalo “chicken” patty, vegan cheese, gherkins and crispy onions. They’ve also got an excellent selection of sides, including Kentucky fried bites and mac & cheese.
📍 Shoreditch and Canary Wharf
6. Patty & Bun
Patty & Bun are the Kings of veggie burgers, with six options sitting alongside their regular burgers. We really dig their ‘Dig It’ burger, with a fried portobello mushroom smothered in garlic parsley butter and melted parmesan, accompanied by pickled onions, slaw, and tarragon mayo. There’s also The Whoopi Goldburger filled with a tempeh and mushroom fritter, the Pamela burger with a plant-based patty and vegan “bacon”, as well as brand new vegan variations of their Ari Gold, Smokey Robinson and Hot Chic burgers.

7. Honest Burgers
Honest Burgers’ veggie fritter is made with courgette and sweetcorn and topped with chipotle mayo, slaw, red onions and pickles. It’s served with their famous salted rosemary chips and the portions are HUGE. Alternatively, try the Plant burger with a Beyond Meat patty, vegan smoked gouda, chipotle mayo, mustard, red onions and pickles; or their January special, the Bacon Plant, made with THIS Isn’t Bacon, vegan smoked gouda, shoestring fries, ‘no’ bacon ketchup, chipotle ‘mayo’, spinach and pickles.
📍 Various locations.
8. Mooshies
As London’s first vegan burger bar, Mooshies know a thing or two about pleasing a veggie. Try the magic mushroom burger topped with a crispy hash brown and sriracha mayo, or the fillet-om-phish, made used panko fried aubergine, and Mooshies’ own tartare sauce.
📍 104 Brick Lane, E1 6RL
9. Wild Food Café
All their food is plant-based and organic, and they are so creative with their ingredients. The menu is always changing, but they always tend to have a kick-ass burger up for grabs for all you raw, paleo, veggie, vegan and/or gluten free foodies.
📍 14 Neal’s Yard, WC2H 9DP
10. BIRD
This one may come as quite a surprise, but BIRD’s menu is not just bird – they also have a top notch beetroot burger to bring in the veggie crowd. It’s safe to say their talents don’t end at frying chicken.

11. Gourmet Burger Kitchen
GBK are the Great Burger Kings. They have a top selection of burgers, including a choice for vegetarians. Yes, you can choose between three different veggie burgers. There’s a falafel burger, a classic bean burger, and ‘the Californian’ with vegan cheddar, avocado, paprika onions, and harissa mayo.
📍 Various locations
12. Haché
Haché have a seriously impressive selection of veggie/vegan burgers for the herbivores amongst us. From the Secret Garden with a panko-crusted portobello mushroom and spicy peanut sauce, to the Eyond Le Fume with a Beyond Meat patty, grilled aubergine, smokey semi-dried tomatoes and more, all presented in a smoke-filled dome.
📍 24 Inverness Street, Camden, NW1 7HJ
13. Mildred’s
If you’re a real veggie foodie, you’ll probably have heard of Mildred’s. Considered by many as “the best veggie burger in London”, Mildred’s is definitely one to pop on the list. The chef makes a new special every day, depending on the day’s best veg. We promise it’s a winner but get down early because it fills up quick!
📍 Various locations.
14. Black Cat Café
Black Cat Café was personally recommended by our token office vegan and, trust us, she knows her stuff. The guys at Black Cat change their menu daily according to what vegetables are available, but there is always a burger on offer, served with chunky chips and a tasty salad.
📍 76A Clarence Road, Hackney, E5 8HB
15. Neat Burger
Five-time Formula One champion and long-time vegan Lewis Hamilton opened this plant-based burger chain in September last year. The menu features three signature burgers—The Neat, The Cheese, and The Chick’n—as well as a range of sides including skinny fries, sweet potato fries and tater tots.
📍 4 Princes Street, W1B 2LE
16. Halo Burger
Halo Burger is the perfect spot if you’re missing proper fast food. Their signature burger consists of two 1/8lb patties sandwiched with diced white onion, plant-based American style cheese, beef tomato, crisp lettuce and their special house-made sauce. Served with Himalayan pink salt fries, it’s so simple but so good.
