Another day, another Banksy animal artwork. This time, it comes at a place next to, well, animals, as Banksy’s ninth piece in the ever-growing series can be found at ZSL London Zoo.
This time, Banksy’s work features a gorilla at the centrepiece, but also a seal and birds occupying space on the set of shutters at the zoo.

The animals on the elusive street artist’s ninth piece in nine days are drawn in the same style as the majority of his pieces in this collection (with the piranhas on Sunday straying slightly from this formula), and it was posted on Instagram by the artist this morning. Prior to Banksy’s post, the Zoo has posted speculation that the piece was indeed the ninth piece in the series.
As with each other’s artwork, Banksy posted with no caption alongside it, leaving the meaning of the pieces up to the imagination (and to be discussed in the comments section of the app!).
Timeline of the Banksy Animal Artworks
- 5/8 – GOAT. 1pm on a Monday afternoon brought us – sat at work, blissfully unaware of what was to come – the first of the Bansky animals over in Kew.
- 6/8 – ELEPHANTS. They stampeded in as a pair to Chelsea, grasping our attention and marking the sophomore animal piece.
- 7/8 – MONKEYS. Three time’s a charm, and it brought us a trio of monkeys to Brick Lane.
- 8/8 – HOWLING WOLF. The wolf howled into the sky from a Peckham satellite dish (if only for a few hours).
- 9/8 – PELICANS. They love a chippy tea just as much as we do, that’s for sure.
- 10/8 – BIG CAT. Big cat doing a big – and short-lived – stretch.
- 11/8 – PIRANHAS. It strayed from the style of the others, but the school of fishes landed on a City Of London police box on Sunday.
- 12/8 – RHINO. Charged into Charlton to dispell any thoughts that this might only be a week-long thing from Banksy.
- 13/8 – LONDON ZOO MASHUP.
