I’m not sure if you’ve heard about this little event that’s taking place in London this summer. It’s been kept quite under-the-radar, you see? It’s just this low-key cultural phenomenon called the Eras Tour. Sound familiar at all?
Well, the time has finally come. Taylor Swift has officially hopped across the pond, as the European leg of her wildly-anticipated tour started in Paris earlier this month. And it’s not long now until she touches down in London, ready to cause some Taylor-induced chaos (which will henceforth be known as Tay-os) in our capital city.
Now look, I know it’s not in our nature to deter people from visiting our city. After all, we think London is one of the best places in the world. But even us self-confessed Londonphiles can admit that there are certain days when the capital is best avoided. And the days on which Taylor Swift is playing at Wembley Stadium might just be some of them.
It’s been reported that the Eras Tour is set to boost UK spending by a whopping £1 billion. Meaning it’s bloomin’ fantastic for the economy, but not so great for our bank balances. Hotel and flights prices will be hoicked up accordingly – so London will be even more eye-wateringly expensive than usual – and it’s also going to be busy. And Swifties aren’t exactly known for being quiet and reserved, are they? Need we be be reminded of the literal earthquake that Taylor Swift fans caused at one of her LA shows?
When is the Eras Tour coming to London?
Taylor is performing eight shows at Wembley Stadium throughout the summer. She’ll be shaking it off on June 21, 22 and 23, and then again on August 15, 16, 17, 19 and 20.
If you didn’t manage to bag yourself tickets? Perhaps save your trip to London for another time. And if you did? Good for you. I’m not jealous at all.
