adidas and Parley are closing the roads around St. Paul’s for a fab free running event this Sunday.
You can join them for a picturesque jog around the City of London this Sunday, June 17, to celebrate the launch of their sustainable new Parley trainer, each pair of which is made of 95% Parley Ocean Plastic™ which prevents about eleven plastic bottles from entering our oceans. Which is pretty nice, really. [Header photo: Derek Σωκράτης Finch]
And the positive vibes don’t stop there. Download their Runtastic app to track your progress, and adidas will donate a dollar to the Parley Ocean School for every km* participants burn through. With a mile-long circular course to enjoy, you can rack up as much as distance as your legs will stand.
The route is designed for both beginners to advanced runners – everyone is welcome to support the cause.
The worldwide initiative, which helps raise awareness of the threat of marine plastic pollution, will see the return of Run For The Oceans, a global running movement that literally anyone can take part in.
Effectively, the simple summary is this: you can save the oceans by donating kilometres rather than cash. Our oceans are increasingly endangered due to pollution and waste, but we can always do our bit to try and protect them. You’ll be supporting The Parley Ocean School programme, which teaches the next generation of Ocean Guardians about the impacts of marine plastic pollution, and provides the knowledge and tools needed to protect our environment in the future.
But how exactly can I get involved?
→ Sign up for the big London run on June 17 (it’s free!).
Starting and finishing at St Paul’s Cathedral, adidas are closing roads and hosting a free one mile (1.6km) looped run on Sunday June 17 that encourages anybody of any ability to run as many miles as they can manage. Sign up to the run here and you’ll be given a free event pack when you arrive. More info here.
→ Log your runs with the Runtastic app.
Between June 8th and July 8th, adidas will donate $1 for every kilometre* tracked within their app to the Parley Ocean School programme. You can download the app here.
→ Get yourself a pair of limited edition UltraBOOST Parley shoes.
Fusing performance-oriented technology with progressive eco-innovation, these shoes feature 95% Parley Ocean Plastic™ and each pair prevents about eleven plastic bottles from entering our oceans. They will be available online from June 20.
So, join the movement and Run For The Oceans! It really is as easy as that.
