Cast your mind back to 2001, and one of the year’s biggest movies: The Princess Diaries. Starring Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews, the now-iconic film saw Hathaway playing Mia Thermopolis, an unpopular, awkward teenager, who discovers she is the sole heir to Genovia. What ensues is the stuff of boy-snogging, makeover-receiving, self-love-affirming hilarity. And next month, it’s getting the concert screening treatment at the Eventim Apollo.
Marking 25 years since the film was released, The Princess Diaries in Concert will have it world premiere in London on November 27. The movies will return to the big screen, accompanied by an all-women orchestra performing John Debney’s score – which is sure to provoke waves of Millenial nostaliga.

The Princess Diaries concert screening
In sync with the film (don’t worry, you’ll also be able to hear the ever-so-quotable dialogue!), The Sinfonietta will perform the movie’s score live. Said Macy Schmidt, founder and music director of The Sinfonietta:
“There is so much joy and nostalgia surrounding The Princess Diaries, and I’m incredibly proud and excited for The Sinfonietta to be part of bringing this beloved film to the concert stage for the first time….
“John Debney’s music in this film scored the hearts of an entire generation, and we can’t wait to bring that magic to life, for audiences in London and around the world.”

Following the London premiere of The Princess Diaries in Concert, the concert screening experience will go on tours of North America, UK, ad across Europe in 2027. For mega fans, it’s a chance to get a brilliant hit of nostalgia as you experience the film in a magical new way. And if you’ve never seen it before, there’s probably no better way to watch to for the first time!
