Arr, gather ’round mateys, and let me tell ye a tale from long ago, of a moving picture that verily took over the world! As sure as the world is flat and the ocean is blue, there was a time when the Pirates of the Caribbean took over every moving surface around. And in just a few moons, those self-same pirates will return to the world, sailing across the waters to bring with them a mighty Pirates of the Caribbean in concert performance – complete with sounding horns, mighty strings, and voices pure, clear, and resonant.
Ahem… Sorry, what I meant to say was: it’s indisputable that ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ is not just a hugely popular film, but perhaps one of the greatest pirate films of all time. And a special screening experience is coming to London this year that fans won’t want to miss.
Pirates of the Caribbean in Concert
‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in Concert’ will touch down at the Royal Albert Hall for one day only on December 29. There will be two screenings on the day, and they will bring the movie to life with live music from an orchestra and choir.
As the movie plays out, Klaus Badelt’s iconic soundtrack will be performed by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the London Voices, conducted by David Mahoney.
Need a refresher on the film? I don’t blame you – it’s been a whopping 13 years since the film came out! The movie stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa.
The film sees wily Captain Barbossa stealing Jack Sparrow’s ship and kidnapping the governor’s beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Swann. In response, Elizabeth’s childhood friend Will Turner joins forces with Jack to save her and recapture Jack’s ship, the Black Pearl.
