The Savoy was Frank Sinatra’s London home-from-home. Before heading to perform at the city’s top music spots like the Royal Albert Hall, Sinatra would often enjoy a quick tipple inside the hotel’s American Bar. His order? A dry martini, served by bartender Joe Gilmore and summoned with a familiar refrain: “Set ’em up, Joe.”
Joe supplied the martinis, Sinatra returned the favour with a song. During his stays at the Savoy, the singer repeatedly dedicated “One for My Baby (And One More for the Road)” to Gilmore at his London concerts, keeping a promise he’d made to the barman.
On 12 November, Frank Sinatra’s music returns to London alongside the tunes of Louis Armstrong for a soulful jazz tribute inside Phoenix Arts Club—and you can get 20% off tickets. Performed by a live jazz band, hits like “Fly Me to the Moon” and “What a Wonderful World” will set the mood for an evening of smooth melodies and toe-tapping rhythms.

A Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong tribute concert in London
You don’t need Sinatra’s room key at the Savoy to make a night of it. At The Jazz Room, the plan is simpler: pull up a chair, order a drink and let a live band take care of the soundtrack.
This tribute brings together two very different voices with plenty in common when it comes to a good tune. “Fly Me to the Moon” and “My Way” meet “What a Wonderful World” and “When You’re Smiling”, with top-class musicians and vocalists putting their own spin on the classics.
Tucked beneath the Phoenix Theatre, Phoenix Arts Club gives the evening a suitably theatrical home, with an intimate setting that puts you close to the music. In fact, the venue actually won Best Live Entertainment Pub of the Year at the 2018 Great British Pub Awards. You can also buy a drink at the bar, too—so take a leaf out of Sinatra’s book and make time for a pre-show tipple.
The show lasts around 60 minutes, with performances on 12 November at 6:15pm and 8:15pm, and you can get 20% off tickets for the 6:15pm showing. It’s strictly for over-18s, and seating is first come, first served, so get there early rather than making a star entrance after the music starts.
