6 Ice Cream Sundaes In London That Are Better Than A Boyfriend

Lucy Bloxham Lucy Bloxham

Ok, so maybe the weather is not quite screaming ‘we all scream ice cream‘ to us right now…but there is always time (and room) for ice cream sundaes. Especially when they look like this…*cue drool*

1. Persepolis

This tiny vegetarian café (it’s in a Persian grocery shop), is truly a hidden gem. With either a Persepolitan Vegan Knickerbocker Glory, Saffron Banana Split, Hot Paklava Meltdown or Turkish Delight Sundae as your options, spoilt for choice is an understatement. The Turkish Delight Sundae -layers of ice cream, pistachio and rose Turkish delight, topped with rose petals (above) – is a picturesque pleasure-inducing prime contender, but the Hot Paklava Meltdown may just nab the top spot. Described by the owner as ‘evil in a sundae glass’, it consists of layers of hot baklava, kaymak (a clotted Turkish yoghurt) and ice cream — the question is, can you get through the sundae before the baklava melt it to a creamy syrup? CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

2. Tombo Café

Rejoyce! All you health gurus out there can now officially enjoy ice cream once again! Let us introduce to you…drum roll please…the Matcha Sundae: a ‘matcha’ up of matcha ice cream, azuki paste, date syrup, granola and (matcha) brownie. Wowza, that was a lot of matcha. Almost guilt-free and absolutely totally delicious! We’ll believe when we…errrr…have tried at least 100 times.

3. Electric Diner

Now, we knowwww that this (above) isn’t an ice cream sundae. But it’s because the Electric Diner’s Warm Apple Pie Sunade is so goddamn good that it just can never, ever be photographed due to safety concerns about dehydration from salivation. Ok, we may be telling porky’s but we forgot to snap it before we ate it (who can blame us?), couldn’t find an image on the World Wide Web and still realllly wanted to tell you about it because it’s sooooo good. So, instead we’ve provided a picture of their also infamous jelly and ice cream sandwiches. Which are also to die for.

4. Foxlow

Yummy yummy yummy get in my tummy. Immediately. Foxlow’s Soft Serve Sundaes are scrumptious to say the least. With Sticky Toffee; Chocolate & Hazelnut or Peach and Apricot to choose from, there’s something for everyone. And, because they’re soft…they’re even suitable for those of you with falsies. Of which i’m sure there are many…YUM!

5. Bird

The Doughnut Hatch right next to Bird is the perfect way to end a perfect meal of free range chicken. Seriously. From ice cream doughnut sandwiches to sensation sundaes…they have it all. Just please, please, please make sure you leave enough room, ok?

6. Fentons Ice Cream

All we have to say is ‘Holy S…undae’! The Pasavena is a decadent mix of fudge, caramel and banana ice cream, slather’d in toffee mou source and with a crunchy pie crumble, topped with whipped cream and hot fudge sauce. Yup. That’s a thing. Endorphins – thank us later. Waistline – soz.
