4 Proper Tasty Pay-By-Weight Restaurants In London

Now there’s a novel idea: pile your plate with food and pay according to how much it weighs. Pretty dangerous for the greedy pigs amongst us, but pretty good for those of us who want a little bit of everything…

1. Ethos

This award-winning veggie restaurant operates purely on a pay-by-weight basis, meaning it’s essentially all-you-can-eat (just as long as you have lots of money)! There’s tons of vegan and gluten free options for those who need them, and the dishes are wholesome, delicious and full of the feel-good factor. You’ll find Ethos just off of Oxford Street, which makes it the perfect break from the agony of Central London shopping.

48 Eastcastle St, W1W 8DX

2. Tibits

Flaunting a “buffet boat” with over 40 salads, hot dishes, soups, and juices on board, Tibits has something for absolutely everyone (unless you don’t like vegetables, in which case don’t bother). Take as much or as little as you like, depending on how hungry you are and how healthy your purse is looking. The dishes are clearly labelled to warn you about allergens, and they even host Vegan Tuesdays where all animal products are banished from the menu.

3. Vita Mojo

Vita Mojo is a unique concept where you can personalise your meal according to your nutritional and dietary needs. You can preorder your food on their website or their app, or you can wait and order on the in-store iPads (modern, eh?). Choose the exact amount of each ingredient per gram by fiddling about with a virtual scale. As the quantities change, you’ll see the nutritional information adjust accordingly — it’s proper fancy. Choose from a bunch of different proteins and salady bits; they have everything from turkey meatballs and baked falafel to polenta and sweet potato mash!

22 Carter Lane, EC4V 5AD and 5 Steward Street, E1 6FQ

 4. Vantra Vitao

Vantra Vitao is right bang in the central shopping hub of London, just a minutes walk from Tottenham Court Road station. All the ingredients they use are organic, local, seasonal and homemade… and it’s all damn right delicious. The pay-by-weight buffet operates at both lunchtime and dinnertime and, as the theme goes, the greedier you are, the more out-of-pocket you become. Only fair…

25-27 Oxford St, W1D 2DW
