Listen up, Londoners: I come bearing some ferry good news. The completely free-to-use Woolwich Ferry service is extending its operating hours, and is now niftily transporting passengers between Woolwich and North Woolwich every 15 minutes.
Having been running on a limited service since early 2022 due to “both mechanical failures and significant resource shortages”, the new-and-improved timetable is being launched in response to customer research and will see services departing every 15 minutes between 5am-9pm every single day.
The Woolwich Ferry service provides an entirely free transport link for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, with thousands of Londoners using the service daily. As well as the more frequent services, TfL has also announced the introduction of a second vessel on weekends, in the hope of reducing waiting times and offering better transport connections within the capital.
The ferry is located near various other transport links, including the Lizzie Line and the shiny new SL2 Superloop bus route, which links Woolwich to Walthamstow.
General manager of Woolwich Ferry, Darren Ellis, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer a new and improved timetable for the Woolwich Ferry, with passengers able to benefit from more frequent journeys and longer operating hours.
“We recognise how important this service is, particularly to local users, and will continue to work hard to enhance the ferry’s service and long-term reliability.
