Look, we all make silly decisions sometimes. The general wisdom may be ‘never get someone’s name tattooed on you’ – but sometimes your emotions get in the way of logic. And that’s how you end up with an ex’s name embarrassingly emblazoned across your shoulder. Or perhaps you’ve even got a portrait of them etched across your ribs. Whether you got inked with the mindset of ‘no ragrets’ or were simply blinded by love, it’s likely those reminders of past relationships can be a bit mortifying. Fortunately, Tinder is partnering up with London tattoo studio Sixty Ink to offer free tattoo cover-ups to singles. ‘No more ragrets’.
Tinder will be taking over Sixty Ink’s tattoo studio for a three-day pop-up (October 11-13) called ‘Ink Twice’. They want to help singles “embark on a new dating journey and leave the past behind them.” Those looking for a free tattoo cover-up can apply for a consultation. On the day, they’ll get a complete tattoo redesign from leading tattoo artists Claudio Traina, Suze Canham and Dominga Longo.
Inking about your ex
Tinder’s own research has revealed that “three in five (60%) young singles (aged 18-25) have considered getting a tattoo for someone they were dating and 79% of young singles’ ink has a special meaning behind it or represents a particular relationship”. However, almost half (48%) of young singles admit that they regret the tattoos that remind them of past relationships. This means that “40% of 18-25 year olds have explored getting their ink reworked.”
Said Claudio Traina, Owner and Lead Tattoo Artist at Sixty Ink:
“If you’ve ever had a tattoo that made you cringe, we feel you! We’ve seen many couples come into our salon to get matching tattoos with their significant other only to break up. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that we’re partnering with Tinder to encourage people to ‘Ink Twice’ about their next tatt. We’re offering to turn those tattoos of your ex’s name into artworks with a new meaning, as it’s all about rocking that fresh ink and getting back out there to date with confidence. So let’s cover up the past and start a new inked-up chapter in your dating journey!”
