Thrill seekers, listen up! As we patiently wait for more days in the sunshine, Thorpe Park have some record-breaking news that’s officially taken the UK’s theme park scene to new heights, quite literally. The beloved theme park has opened a brand-new rollercoaster called Hyperia — the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster.
Reaching heights of 236ft and speeds of over 80mph, the all-new ride has been causing quite the buzz online for equity some time due to its fun design and unique elements, and it’s finally open and taking its first-ever riders.
Get ready to feel weightless as you reach heights unseen, before you wind your way through the exhilarating twists and bends that feature multiple inversions and even a splash-down section, where you’ll glide across a lake with incredible water effects.
The coaster features several air-time hills, an extraordinary 236ft tall lift hill, as well as a non-inverted Immelmann bend, and stall loop elements, so yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.
Following extensive testing (and even a brief closure), many fans of Thorpe Park have flocked to Surrey to be some of the first to ride. From its iconic twists and turns to its dizzying, record-breaking height, it was an established legend before opening day.
However, the record-breaking ride had to close after only one day of operations, with Thorpe Park having to release an apology statement on social media, as well as continuous updates. Hyperia has officially reopened and is back in business, so you can finally ride this marvel in all its glory if you’ve been waiting.
Hyperia took over The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which was the tallest rollercoaster in the UK, as well as its sister rollercoaster Stealth at Thorpe Park, which used to hold the record for the UK’s fastest.
There are so many more incredible rides and attractions at Thorpe Park if you’re a little put off by Hyperia’s grandeur. From SAW: The Ride to the legendary Colossus, expect a plethora of white-knuckle wonders, as well as some family-thrills, waiting for you at this popular theme park that’s only one hour away from London.
Hyperia, took its first official spin on opening day, which was on Friday May 24th. It had to close for a few weeks due to some unforeseen circumstances but it’s back in operation. For more information on Hyperia, as well as tickets and FAQ, click here to visit the Thorpe Park website.
