Well, software provider, Bókun, has done the hard work for us this time. They’ve done the research, crunched the numbers, and revealed the ultimate hidden gems in London – and the world.
The study examined over 1000 destinations worldwide, analysing Tripadvisor reviews containing the phrase ‘hidden gem’ to uncover the best spots to visit – according to real consumers. England proudly led the pack, with 217 hidden gems across the country, whilst the USA came in second place with 203.
London has obviously made a huge impact on tourists and Tripadvisor users, as out of every location examined; London had the most attractions make the global list. A whopping 29 entries, to be exact. But let’s get down to business. Which hidden gem really is the crème de la crème? Well, we can reveal that with 17% of its reviews claiming it to be a local wonder, the ultimate hidden gem in London is The Charterhouse.
The Charterhouse is a historic group of gorgeous buildings on the site of a burial ground in Farringdon. Dating all the way back to 1611, the spot provides accommodation to a community of residents called Brothers but has been used for many purposes over the years. Visitors can explore the museum, the stunning chapel, the Great Chamber and the beautiful gardens, whilst discovering the unique and fascinating history that spans almost 650 years.
