165 years ago, someone thought it would be a jolly good idea to hit some wooden balls through hoops in the garden. What coincided with this momentous time was the invention of Britain’s most important and iconic creation; the foundation of our very culture; a fundamental element of British history, if you will. Yes – the beloved fruity alcoholic beverage, Pimm’s. Now the two are joining forces and the garden sport is making a come back in style. It’s leaving behind the pristine lawns of manor houses and is ‘popping up’ (how trendy), in the big bad city. 800ft up in the air, in fact, on the biggest, baddest building in the block – The Shard.
From Monday 25th July until Sunday 21st August, you can smash out a game of sky-high croquet with a Pimm’s Cider Cup in hand. Tickets are £29.95 and include access to the 69th and 72nd floors. For more info and to purchase tickets, visit The View from the Shard‘s website here.
