Selfridges’ new culinary concept has already garnered a whole lot of buzz…
Selfridges is opening a brand new restaurant dedicated to honey this winter, and we reckon it’ll be the bees knees. Hive will serve an array of delectable honey-infused delights made with only the finest organic ingredients. In fact, Hive produces their very own honey in beehives on the shop’s rooftop! The restaurant is opening on December 4, making it the perfect place for a post-lockdown pick me up. [Featured image: Hive Restaurant]
The new honey-focused eatery is located on the third floor of the department store, replacing Hemsley + Hemsley. Their talented chefs have created an all-day menu that is healthy, comforting, and completely innovative. This will be a dining experience like no other and if you can’t tell, we’re already buzzing.
Whether you stop off for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessertm or cocktails, you’re bound to be impressed. Naturally, there are a bunch of honey-based bites for you to devour, including the truffle omelette, baked St Marcellin, and lavender honey crème brulèe. However, you’ll also find a wonderful selection of savoury dishes on the menu. In addition, an incredibly indulgent cheese and honey afternoon tea experience is on the cards. Who knew honey was so versatile?

As for the restaurant’s décor, it is stylish and remarkably modern. Think golden bee structures, decadent floral arrangements and relatable quotes such as ‘Home is where your honey is’. And from next month, Hive’s resident beekeeper will be hosting monthly talks about the importance of bees in the ecosystem. After all their hard work, these busy bees definitely deserve some airtime.
Khalid Samata, the owner of Hive, said “After a difficult year, we are so excited to open our doors and celebrate living life again with such a beautiful concept, amazing food and good company.” After the year we’ve had, I think we could all use a sweet escape.
