Esta semana marca o último jejum do Ramadão antes do Eid, que se prevê que ocorra amanhã (10 de abril) ou no dia 11 de abril, dependendo da observação da lua crescente. O Ramadão foi um período de reflexão, oração e dádiva. Tanto o Iftar, a refeição nocturna após o Maghrib (pôr do sol), como o Suhoor, a refeição da manhã, ao amanhecer, são momentos importantes para comer com a família e assegurar um jejum bem sucedido ao longo de cada dia.
Com base no calendário lunar, o Ramadão muda cerca de nove dias todos os anos e, em algumas partes do mundo, incluindo Londres, quando os relógios foram adiantados na madrugada de 31 de março, os períodos de jejum serão afectados pelas poupanças de luz do dia.
Londres é o lar da maior comunidade muçulmana do Reino Unido, com cerca de 1,4 milhões de pessoas a viver na capital – cerca de 1/8 da população da cidade. 2. The Great Chase
A casa do grande assado halal tem um menu Iftar brilhante para si, que decorre durante todo o Ramadão. Como pode ver na imagem acima, é um verdadeiro banquete! Só de pensar na sopa de harissa com especiarias, seguida de Beef Wellington e pãezinhos de choux, o meu cérebro dá-me sinais difíceis de ignorar.
Além disso, o The Great Chase tem um espaço dedicado à oração no restaurante para qualquer comensal utilizar, e o restaurante convida os comensais a juntarem-se a uma oração congregacional depois da água de boas-vindas, do número ímpar de tâmaras e do pão fresco. Qualquer pessoa que deseje comer aqui durante o Ramadão deve enviar o pedido por correio eletrónico para o restaurante, o mais tardar 48 horas antes da sua reserva. Este restaurante de Willesden Green é conhecido pela sua receita original de frango assado, o primeiro em Londres a servir esta variedade, e pelas batatas fritas de corte grosso. Espera-se encontrar molho tártaro e pepinos aninhados para lhe dar uma experiência completa à beira-mar, trocando o peixe por frango frito e o oceano por um mar de pessoas dentro de uma loja de kebab gigante. Um favorito de Knightsbridge que domina a arte dos mezzes libaneses e da carne grelhada. Outro saboroso buffet iftar londrino pode ser apreciado no Spice Village, em Southall, que acaba de ser renovado.
