Episode seven of Netflix’s hit show One Day saw a glamorous dinner catch-up between Emma and Dexter head so disastrously south that instead of rekindling their friendship, it led to its total breakdown and was a heartbreaking watch for the forlorn audience. The setting of this friendship-ending dinner date? London’s very own swanky Quaglino’s, or as is known on the show as ‘The Pacific’, Dexter’s celeb hangout choice for dinner.
Well, Quaglino’s are offering folks the chance to enjoy fish and chips as Emma ordered on the show, a dish which isn’t even on Quaglino’s real menu, in the same setting that Emma and Dexter had their catastrophic dinner date, but without any of the disaster we saw on the screen.
Following the episode going live, Quaglino’s saw a 78% increase in reservation requests compared to the week before, proving that despite the awful catch-up, the reputation of this London institution for elegance and glamour still prevailed.
By hosting its very own ‘One-Day Date’, the restaurant hopes to prove that not all movie dates end with a bad taste in the mouth and that an evening at Quaglino’s is fiasco-less. To create a memorable cinematic experience for fans of the show, Quaglino’s will be serving up an exclusive off-menu dish – the beloved fish and chips, which we honestly don’t blame Emma for ordering especially considering it recently officially regained the crown as Britain’s most loved ‘national dish’.
Jack Smith, Executive Head Chef, is ready to batter up a storm, ensuring its fish and chips are worthy of the big screen. The fish and chips will be accompanied by the classic gin martini, another nod to the episode as Dexter’s drink of choice.
