News On Chews: Fresh Eats 5th May 2015

The first of many updates on all the fresh eats in town. Because London is a thriving culinary hub, and it can be hard to keep up with what’s going on sometimes. Not to worry, we’ve got your back with all the latest openings, fads and takeouts from the foodie scene in the Capital. So without further, here’s all our news on chews:


Taberna de Mercado

From the man behind Chiltern Firehouse, Taberna is a new venue in Spitalfields serving chef Nuno Mendes’ native Portuguese cuisine. No word yet on whether it’ll be celeb central like Chiltern Firehouse, Taberna is set to launch on the 11th of May.

Opened by The Savoy, Melba is named after opera singer and former hotel guest Dame Nellie Melba. Entirely dedicated to eclairs, Melba dreams up various iterations of the little delights – one for pastry lovers!




A new restaurant from the owner of Chotto Matte and the Ping Pong franchise, Kurt Zdesar, Bouillabaisse will concentrate on all things seafood. Launching in early June in Mayfair, it precedes more mystery launches in the area from restaurateur Zdesar.


Vintage Salt

Vintage Salt

A new summer restaurant opening on the rooftop of Selfridges, Vintage Salt replaces the winter-themed Le Chalet. The brainchild of Des MacDonald, behind Q Grill (Camden) and Fish and Chip Shop (Islington), the restaurant-bar will be styled on a Cornish fishing village, serving seaside treats.




Oh Mommi! Believe it or not, this new Japanese-Latin raw bar and grill in Clapham comes from the owners of renowned nightclub Infernos. Serving ceviche and sushi-style raw dishes, the restaurant will use a robata grill for cooked meat and fish.

If you haven’t heard about Red’s yet, it’s only a matter of time. Cooking up an absolute storm in Manchester, Leeds and Nottingham, the barbecue specialists find a new home in the capital on Great Eastern Street, Shoreditch.

Graduating from a Piccadilly Circus pop-up to a new permanent location on Broadwick Street in Soho, Crosstown specialises in all things doughnut. Flavours like salted caramel, banana and chocolate truffle will be accompanied by hot drinks from Assembly Coffee.
