There’s a brand new food festival coming to the city, and it’s set to be anything but sub-par. Spreading a love of sandwiches throughout North London, the inaugural ‘Sarnie Party’ will be taking over Camden Town Brewery’s Kentish Town Beer Hall in May.
Celebrating the nation’s favourite comfort food and showcasing some of the best sandwiches in the country, Sarnie Party is what it says on the tin: a three-day, carb-fuelled jamboree. Bringing together a bunch of twenty talented chefs, each tasked with creating a new and exclusive sandwich, an empty stomach is going to be essential for this one.
There’ll be toasties, sourdough sarnies, and some old-school English classics, probably with a cheffy twist. All this fuss over sandwiches? You might think. But sandwiches are having a bit of a moment. And they’ve come a long way from the soggy cream cheese and cucumber triangles you used to have in your packed lunches. In this age of virality, we’ve seen some serious sandwich mania in recent years: from queues around corners for The Black Pig’s famous Christmas sandwiches, to the hysteria caused when we announced that Bristol sandwich legends Sandwich Sandwich were coming to London this year. So yes, I think the fuss is absolutely justified.
Each day of Sarnie Party will proffer up a different lineup of never-seen-before sandwiches. There’ll be a whole bunch of sandwich shops in attendance, but from London alone you can expect the likes of Dom’s Subs, Mondo Sandos, The Cheese Truck, Rogues Sandwiches, The Black Pig, Ruben’s Reubens, Deeney’s, and even ice cream sandwiches from Happy Endings.
Sarnie Party will take place at Camden Town Brewery’s Kentish Town Beer Hall from Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19. Sessions will run from 5-10pm on Friday and Saturday, with an extra afternoon session (11am-4pm) on the Saturday. There will alos be a Sunday session running from 12-5pm. Tickets cost £30 per session and include three sandwiches of your choice (plus a Camden Town beer on entry).
