One of London’s tiniest new restaurants has just opened its doors – to 12 customers at a time. Luna is a new omakase restaurant tucked away within the adored Mexican-Japanese fusion restaurant, Los Mochis London City. The restaurant-within-a-restaurant serves up a unique, luxurious dining experience in equally unique and stunning surroundings.
Now, there’s no need to crack open a menu here. At Luna, every single dish you eat is chosen and hand-crafted by the chef – right in front of you. All you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy a stunning meal. However, you will have to pay an impressive price for the opportunity. The omakase experience at Luna costs a staggering £230.

Luna is the second tiny restaurant from the Los Mochis group, following the opening of Juno – a tiny six-seater restaurant inside Los Mochis Notting Hill. However, while Juno was the first-ever Japanese-Mexican fusion omakase, Luna hews more traditionally Japanese. Guests are treated to “Sosaku-style Edomae Omakase, a modern interpretation of traditional Edomae sushi, which originated in Tokyo during the Edo period.”
Luna Omakase
Inspired by the 12 phases of the moon, Luna’s menu changes as the lunar cycle shifts, responding to seasons, ingredients, and inspiration. Leaning further into the inspiration, the Luna Omakase experience seats 12 people at a time, who are served 12 dishes during their meal. Oh, and it’s called Luna – as in lunar, get it?

The experience starts with a welcome drink as guests settle in for a culinary ride through a world of flavours. The menu changes daily, highlighting “the finest seasonal ingredients and sustainable seafood” and builds from delicate opening bites to heftier dishes with bold flavours. The experience then culminates in a “traditional tea ceremony that brings the experience to a contemplative close.”
But don’t worry – if you’re still hungry you can order more sushi during your experience. (Naturally, it will add an extra cost to the set price, though.)

Said Markus Thesleff, founder and CEO:
“For Luna, we set out to create a fresh take on omakase, one that feels both familiar and unexpected. While Juno uniquely blends Mexican and Japanese cuisine, Luna has its own identity, rooted in tradition but seen through a modern lens. Drawing from Edomae sushi, we take a Sosaku-style approach, combining time-honoured techniques with Leo’s creative flair. Each dish centres around a key ingredient that is reimagined, bringing out new contrasts and depths of flavour. Our menu reflects our journeys, travels, and memories which are always evolving, always inspired, and, most of all, meant to be enjoyed.”
Is this the smallest restaurant in London?
Luna is easily one of the smallest restaurants in all of London. But having said that, it’s not even the smallest restaurant within its family of venues. That honour goes to sibling omakase restaurant attached to Los Mochis Notting Hill: Juno Omakase. Juno has only six (!) seats available at a time.

Juno only does two seatings a day during the week, with an extra lunch time session on Saturdays. That means during a fully booked week of service, Juno serves a mere 66 diners!
By comparison, Luna does two sittings a night from Tuesday to Saturday and serves up to 120 diners a week. Sure, the experience may cost a pretty penny, but it’s a rather exclusive chance to try some incredible food.
