With September creeping towards us, and the temperature (finally!) having taken a dip recently, it feels like the end of summer is approaching. And while there are still some high temperatures predicted for the coming weeks, there’s not long left before London’s lidos close for the season.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a guide to all of the London lido closures to help you go for a final dip before it’s too late. We’ve also put together a list of the London lidos that stay open all year long – even in the winter. Just be prepared for a pretty chilly dip!
London lido closing dates
When will Finchley Lido close?
The outdoor lido at Finchley Lido Leisure Centre will close on September 13, 2026.
When will Hillingdon Lido close?
This 50-metre, Grade II-listed outdoor lido at the Hillingdon Sport & Leisure Complex in West London will close at the end of October.
When will Tooting Bec Lido close?
Tooting Bec Lido will close to the general public on September 30. However, cold water swimming is permitted for members of certain swimming clubs and organisations.
When will Serpentine Lido close?
Hyde Park’s Serpentine Lido is expected to close in mid‑September.
When will Summer Splash Lido close?
The limited-time Summer Splash Lido closed on August 17.
London lidos where you can swim all year
The following lidos are open all year, allowing you to swim even in the depths of winter. So whether you’re looking for a cold-water dip in the city, or a heated pool to splash around in when you’re missing summer, head to these London lidos.
Brockwell Lido
The Grade II-listed Brockwell Lido isn’t just the best lido in Britain; it’s also a year-round spot for a swim. The iconic 50-metre pool is available for swimmers to enjoy no matter the season. But be warned, it’s not heated, and it does get very cold in the cooler months. But you can warm up quickly with a tea or coffee from the on-site Lido Café.
Charlton Lido
Not only is this 50-metre pool available for you to enjoy all throughout the year, but it’s also heated! The water is kept at a comfortable 22°C, making it equally pleasant in the summer and winter months.
Hampton Pool
This charity-run outdoor heated pool is open 365 days a year. Known to some as “South West London’s best kept secret”, the lido is 36 metres long and also features a 12.5-metre learner pool.
London Fields Lido
This popular Hackney lido boasts an Olympic-sized 50-metre heated outdoor pool, which they keep heated all year round. So you can take a dip at the London Fields Lido even in the depths of winter.
Oasis Sports Centre/Lido
This hidden spot allows Londoners to take a dip right in the heart of London, in Covent Garden. The outdoor pool is heated to a cosy 25°C (indoors the pool is heated to 27°C!) and is open to swimmers every day. There’s also an outdoor sauna that’s free with your swim during open hours.
Park Road Lido
This Haringey lido is a popular heated spot for London’s swimmers, and it’s open all throughout the year. It recently received an impressive new makeover, improving the changing areas, bathroom facilities, and reception and cafe area. The 50m-metre pool was also renovated, with new landscaping and water features. So there’s even more reason to visit any day of the year!
Parliament Hill Lido
This North London lido features a 60-metre chlorinated swimming pool that is open 365 days a year. It does get cold, though, as the water is not heated. Do be aware that the lido has shorter opening hours during the winter.
Pools On The Park
The 33-metre outdoor pool at Pools on the Park in Richmond is kept open all year. And they keep the water heated to a comfortable 25°C, making for “the perfect place for fitness, leisure, or relaxation – whatever the season.”
Sea Lanes Canary Wharf
This recent addition to London’s lido scene can be found at Canary Wharf’s Eden Dock. The 50-metre, 60-lane, natural floating pool is open all year round. The venue also offers “lifeguarded open water dock swimming, and a programme of activities and events”.
