Plans for a brand new indoor arena dubbed the “London Colosseum” have been unveiled, with developers aiming to create the UK’s largest venue of its kind in the heart of the capital
If approved and built, the proposed 25,000-seat arena would surpass Manchester’s Co-op Live and London’s O2 Arena, positioning the capital as a leading destination for global sport and entertainment.
London Colosseum would be the UK’s largest indoor arena
The ambitious project is being led by Jericho Estates, Peacock Gym, Torch Sports, and architecture firm Chybik + Kristof. The proposed site sits within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, close to the former London 2012 Olympic Stadium.
However, the scheme remains at an early stage. No formal planning application has been submitted, and there is currently no agreement in place with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), which owns the land.
The UK’s largest indoor arena designed for sport, music and more

The London Colosseum is being pitched as a multi-purpose venue capable of hosting a wide range of events, from world championship boxing and UFC fights to major concerts and international esports tournaments.
Developers have also suggested it could become home to a future London franchise in the NBA’s planned European league, expected to launch in 2027 or 2028.
Architect Ondrej Chybik said the arena’s flexible “bowl design” would allow it to scale between 18,000 and 25,000 spectators depending on the event, helping avoid the inefficiencies of traditional single-use stadiums.
A wider sports and entertainment campus
Beyond the main arena, the proposal includes a broader “London Colosseum Academy” across a second site. Plans feature:
- Two smaller 3,000-seat venues
- A dedicated basketball school
- The Peacock Boxing Gym & Academy
- An international esports training centre in partnership with a London university
Developers say the aim is to create a year-round destination, rather than a venue that only comes alive on event days.
A key part of the vision is a multifunctional tower combining hotel rooms, residential apartments, and community facilities.
At present, the London Colosseum remains a concept rather than a confirmed project. No timeline for construction has been announced, and planning discussions are yet to begin formally.
It also remains unclear whether the scheme is connected to separate efforts backed by the London Lions basketball team and Mayor Sadiq Khan to deliver a new arena within the M25.
