It’s certainly not unusual for you to find us over here waxing lyrical about nook, cranny, corner, and crevice of our capital city. But with so many desirable neighbourhoods perched upon London’s doorstep, it can be rather tricky to decipher which of them is worthy of setting up shop in. But fear not, folks. Because Muddy Stilettos has – once again – entered the chat.
Each and every year, the leading (and pretty darn legendary) lifestyle publication collate their coveted catalogue of the best places to live. From big busy towns to small-but-mighty villages, their trusty team search high and low for the UK’s most desirable places to reside.
Eight London locations earnt themselves a sought-after spot on this year’s edition of the list. One being a picture-perfect pocket of the city that many people have never even heard of. So, without further ado, please allow me to point you in the oh-so dreamy direction of De Beauvoir Town.

De Beauvoir Town
Named after a wealthy 19th-century landowner, Peter De Beauvoir, this ‘surprisingly peaceful pocket of central London’ was praised by Muddy Stilettos for its strong community vibe, leafy roads, and unique shops. Sat snugly between Islington and Dalston, on the northern edge of the Regent’s Canal, De Beauvoir is frequently hailed ‘a village within the city’. There’s plenty of scenic walking routes, independent shops, delicious places to eat, drink, and be merry (including an award-winning deli), and some big old Victorian houses.
Oh, and on the subject of those rather hefty houses, I’m not going to lie to you, folks – they don’t come particularly cheap. The average home in De Beauvoir Town will set you back £804,259. You could snap up a flat for approximately £651, 757, whilst a detached home in the area costs – on average – £1,541,250. Blimey.
