If you’ve got a fixing for fromage, a craving for cheddar, or a hankering for halloumi, then you’ll want to head to this Mecca of mozzarella. Tucked away in Camden, you’ll find the Cheese Bar, a veritable haven for dairy lovers thanks to its impressively cheesy selection. It’s the perfect place to enjoy plate after plate of delicious cheese expertly matched with complementary flavours, chow down on grilled cheeses, or indulge in bottomless raclette.
To say that the Cheese Bar is dedicated to cheese almost doesn’t do justice to how much cheese they serve up. On a menu with over 25 dishes, every single one has cheese or dairy in it. Yes – even the desserts!
There’s a hefty selection of individual cheeses (obviously) but the menu also includes the likes of Poutine, Five Cheese Macaroni, burgers crowned with lashings of cheese, and Cheesy Truffle Fries.
The Cheese Bar also serves up the gluttonous Grilled Cheeses that first made their famed Cheese Truck so popular. And if you’ve come with friends (or are just really hungry) they even have sharing dishes like the Fondue for Two and the Baked Waterloo. Needless to say – it’s not the place to go if you’re lactose intolerant!
To wash down all that cheese they’ve got a pretty impressive drinks selection, too. They’ve got a selection of craft beers and cider as well as an impressive wine list. You can even match some of the more robust cheeses with a glass of port, or sip at a cocktail. They’ve got all tastes accounted for – cheese-wise and drinks-wise!
Bottomless Raclette
According to Mean Girls – ‘on Wednesdays, we wear pink.’ And while we can’t really argue with that (pink is my favourite colour), the Cheese Bar has recently inspired a new saying in the Secret London office. ‘On Wednesdays, we eat bottomless raclette.’
That’s because on select Wednesdays The Cheese Bar is an unmissable spot for fans of the gooiest, meltiest cheese around. For just £20pp, you can enjoy 90 minutes of never-ending Ogleshield Raclette served atop new potatoes, Dingley Dell Ham, vegetables, and cornichons. You can also slap on an extra 12 quid to enjoy bottomless house wine at the same time. Bottomless cheese and wine? Be still, my beating heart!
Now, usually, the bottomless raclette is available on the last Wednesday of every month. But they’re changing things up a bit for the holiday season. The Cheese Bar will host three more sessions in 2024 – on November 20 & 27 and December 11. Don’t delay; be sure to make your booking soon lest you miss out!
And that’s not all. From November to March, The Cheese Bar goes all gooey with Fondue Thursdays. These evening dining sessions are dedicated to the art of melting cheese, dunking stuff in it, and going directly to heaven.
Other Cheese Bar venues
If you fancy doing a cheesy tour of London, you could do worse than wandering around the city and hitting up the rest of the Cheese Bar’s venues around London. Each one has its own draw, vibe, and menu. Top of the list is definitely Pick & Cheese in Seven Dials, which is famous for its cheese conveyor belt. There’s also a roving cheese truck that you’ll sometimes find popping up around London, and a cheese restaurant on a boat (The Cheese Barge).
However, their Rind venue in Settle, North Yorkshire, might be a bit far if you want to hit them all up in one day. (Save it as inspo for your next trip out of London…)
So, what are you waiting for? We can’t think of a feta way to make the most of this dreary cold weather than filling up on cheese! We’ll meet you at the bar. The Cheese Bar.
