London Buses Revealed To Move Slower Than Mice And Chickens

Stuck on the bus on your morning commute, painfully watching everyone on foot and bike passing you by? The pigeons are even mocking you behind the glass, as you sit there hopelessly, only slightly gleeful when the bus juts forward a metre… TfL statistics show that during rush hour buses move an average speed of 4.6mph. To get a rough idea of how slow this actually is, chickens move around at 9mph, while mice scuttle the streets at about 8mph.

Apologies to those who cruise through Islington, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and the City of London – these are the worst areas for super slow bus routes. The bus route no. 8, from Bow Church to Tottenham Court Road Station was one of the worst, slugging away at speeds as low as 5.3mph. Ouch.

Maybe we should all just take a leaf out of this weasel’s book and get to work via woodpecker (they fly at around 20mph!)
