It’s finally time for Santa (and Michael Bublé) to be defrosted, and for the city’s halls to be decked with tinsel and twinkly lights. And back again to shake up the season is HUMBUG, a magical dive bar, filled to the brim with dazzling neon lights, Christmassy memorabilia, and raucus festive cheer by the sleigh-load. Following a sold out season last year, HUMBIG is back and bigger than before; this time sprinkling some magic over the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane.
Let me set the scene for you: Santa isn’t quite feeling his usual jolly self (I mean, there’s a lot of pressure riding on the poor guy). He retreats to his favourite dive bar in the hope of some well needed rest and recuperation. And that’s where you come in. Guests will be required to bring their festive A-game to nurse a weary Santa back to his full elf.
A wonderfully interactive, fun-filled evening, guests can expect to encounter all manner of HUMBUG regulars. We’re talking a disgruntled dive bar waitress, a mailman who has lost all his letters to Santa, and an ever-changing line-up of London’s finest cabaret, circus and musical acts.
This year’s event is double the size and double the chaos of last year’s, with guests able to enjoy a whole host of brand new rooms and experiences. We’re talking a hectic mailroom, a shrine to the queen of Christmas (Mariah Carey, of course), and a Christmassy beer can bowling alley. With space for over 200 guests per night, a night spent at HUMBUG is guaranteed to be the ultimate festive knees-up. Head on down to Santa’s beloved watering hole and get involved in the quest to help save Christmas. The storytelling will be inspired by everyone’s favourite Christmas songs and movies, so you can indulge in a big dollop of nostalgia along the way, and party into the early hours of the morning with the plethora of live music and DJ sets.
Throughout the night, guests can stay hydrated with some festive tipples courtesy of HUMBUG’s cocktail menu. Sip on ‘The Grinch’ (a delicious concoction of rum, peach schnapps, blue curacao and pineapple juice) or indulge in the HUMBUG special ‘Bah F*****g Humbug’ (a naughty but oh-so-nice mixture of rum, chocolate liqueur, oat milk, crushed Oreos and whipped cream – topped with a mince pie). Because it’s Christmas (the season for eating, duh), festive-themed street food from Bang Bang Burger will be available, too.
HUMBUG promises a truly fabulous, festive night out. The perfect blend of great drinks, enchanting encounters, and Christmas magic; a visit to HUMBUG is an immersive and interactive experience where good times are guaranteed. So, round up your pals, head on down to HUMBUG, and simply have a wonderful Christmastime. It’s a definite Claus for celebration.
Humbug will be open until December 31. Tickets are priced from£25pp with a variety of different package options available. Find out more and book your tickets here.
