Now that Notting Hill carnival is behind us, it’s time to get excited for some more carnival fun! Following five years of cancellations and altercations, Hackney Carnival is back to conclude the epic summer season in the capital, celebrating the borough’s diversity and creative talents with an epic street party, as well as that over-due sense of community.
The beloved family-focused parade and celebration will be back this weekend on Sunday, September 22nd, featuring eye-catching floats and vibrant colourful costumes that celebrate carnival culture.
From the must-see parade to live music and art stalls, you can expect a stellar line-up of activities happening throughout the day and the summer all across Hackney, bringing some much-needed sparkle, glitter, and harmonies to the streets of East London.
Parade route and Carnival sites:
The undisputed highlight of Carnival is the parade, and that’s no exception when it comes to Hackney’s adored iteration. There will be eye-catching costumes, soul-stirring music and a spectacle of talents from over 30 parade groups.
The parade will kick off at the end of Mentmore Terrace near London Fields, turning left into Mare Street, before making its way to London Fields Park. The parade kicks off at noon and concludes at 5 pm. Check the full route below to find yourself a good spot on the big day.
