London’s West End is a hub of entertainment: from the show-stopping theatre shows to the almost infinite number of cuisines in the area’s restaurants, you’d be hard pressed to not find something you like. In the heart of all this fanfare, just a two-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus, cabaret club Wonderville promises magic, music, comedy, cabaret and more to all who walk through their doors.
At this new one-stop-shop of entertainment, the fun doesn’t just start at 7.30pm like at many of its neighbours. From midday onwards daily, you can venture in, grab a spot at one of the tables at the foot of the grand stage, and enjoy cocktails, wine and snacks with your group. Of course, though, Wonderville‘s shows are the main event. Their schedule changes pretty regularly, but below is just a little taste of what to expect over the next year.
1. Have a laugh a minute at one of Wonderville’s comedy nights
What better escapism on a Wednesday night than an evening of comedy? Wonderville will host a succession of comedy nights in March and April, featuring a line up of great comedians. These evenings will be dedicated to offering the audience fresh material and work-in-progress comedy. What’s more, Wonderville doesn’t just offer 18+ entertainment; once a month, they also have child-friendly comedy sets on a Sunday.
2–3. Celebrate Eurovision this May
Eurovision lovers, it’s your time to shine! What better place to get in on the action than at a cabaret club? Loud outfits, flamboyant performances and diverse entertainment – it’s a match made in heaven.
🎤 In celebration of the UK hosting the competition this year, Wonderville will be hosting Eurovision: Your Decision, a comedic look at Eurovision’s songbook of hits, on April 29. Sing along to the weird and wonderful musical entries from around the world across two hours, voting for your favourite at the end of the show. It’s a true homage to Eurovision and its eccentricities.
🎤 On May 13, the big event takes place: the Eurovision Live Final 2023! Get a slice of the action by watching the evening unfold on a huge screen at Wonderville. The drinks will flow, and there’ll be a general party atmosphere throughout the venue and well into the night.
4. Relive a much loved tradition at the Game Night stage show
I’m pretty sure the mere mention of ‘games night’ will either bring a shiver of excitement or fear into your body – or maybe a little of both. Whether you love or hate the tradition, stage show Game Night, showing at Wonderville this June and July, takes a hilarious look at the popular activity, all the while having you in stitches of laughter. The storyline follows main character Michael as he hosts a meticulously planned games night and, well, it all goes a bit pear shaped…
5. Embrace the revelry of an adult pantomime
Let’s fast forward all the way to December now. Wonderville will play host to a Puss in Boots pantomime and, well, you ain’t ever seen a version of the story like this before. On selected evenings throughout December, follow the tail tale of the eponymous Puss in Boots in a hilarious LGBTQ+ panto for adults. There’ll be side splitting laughs, a catchy score, and general revelry from the cast and audience.
