If you’ve ever been to a Georgian restaurant (or, y’know, Georgia itself…) you’ve no doubt come across khinkali – the national dish of Georgia. These Georgian dumplings have been compared to soup dumplings (or xiaolongbao) for their juicy fillings and moreish flavours. And now, an ultra-modern new restaurant wants to take the once-humble food and propel it to food superstardom. Allow us to introduce to you, Kinkally and its attached subterranean cocktail bar, Kinky.
Kinkally is a split venue with a restaurant on the main floor and a cocktail bar hidden away underneath. Both draw inspiration from Georgian tradition and founder Diana Militski’s travels in Georgia, bringing the flavours of the region to London with an exciting new take.

Kinkally
Specialising in the eponymous khinkali, Kinkally serves up twists on the traditional dumpling with unexpected and luxurious fillings. These range from langoustine, tarragon, and matsoni (a fermented milk product, similar to yoghurt), to wagyu and peppercorn plum sauce.
To go with the khinkali, the menu includes a variety of small plates. These merge “Georgia’s ancient food culture with contemporary minimalism”. These include Zucchini pkhali (a pounded vegetable dish comprising walnuts, spices, and veggies), Beef tartar with kindzmari (a cilantro and vinegar sauce), and black truffle, and much more.
There are also some larger plates for the really hungry among you. Choose from a guinea fowl-utilising take on Chkmeruli (fried chicken cooked in a garlic and walnut sauce), Imeruli with lamb chashuli and pistachio praline (a Georgian flatbread filled with a lamb stew), and more. And since every meal needs a sweet finish, there’s even a sweet take on khinkali, with rice dough and champagne!
A mixture of wooden and stone touches throughout the restaurant hearken back to the Caucasus Mountains where khinkali was first invented. The decor in the rest of the venue carries on with this inspiration. Details across the menu, crockery, and more draw from Georgian language, folklore, and architecture.
Bar Kinky
Downstairs from the restaurant, you’ll find the low-lit environs of Bar Kinky. Here, amidst glowing light installations and secretive dark corners, guests can enjoy inventive cocktails made from unique ingredients. Your cocktail could include anything from peanuts to lavender, porcini mushrooms, or even goat cheese.
Said founder Diana:
“Georgia has one of the most fascinating gastronomic traditions in the world – but its food is so under-represented in the West, and London is no exception. We think it’s time for Londoners to share the khinkali experience – but with some boundary-pushing flavours from chef David that take inspiration from across Eurasia. Moreover, Bar Kinky will bring something truly special to London’s cocktail scene – Andrew is a mixology genius. We can’t wait to become part of the impressive lineup of culinary experiences Charlotte Street has become over the years.”
It looks like the time has come for Georgian food to shine in London.
