Regardless of the fact that we’re technically adults – and therefore old enough to get married; in London, we’re all big kids at heart. We’re just here, living out our Peter Pan fantasies, and trying our very best to never actually grow up – and so, it’s pretty darn lucky that we’ve found a perfect spot for those young-and-heart couples to tie the knot.
Nestled away in the heart of the Kent countryside is a unique wedding venue that has its very own fairground for the guests to use. First you wed; then you waltzer. What more could you want on one of the most important days of your life?
The venue
Once home to the iconic singer, Eartha Kitt; Marleybrook House was used for many years as a countryside retreat for famous faces of the entertainment world. It was bought by its current owners in 2006, and opened its doors for weddings and events in 2013. The rest, my friends, is history.
The venue offers over 10 acres of glorious gardens, with three different ceremony areas to choose from. The Walled Garden offers an intimate space, filled with luscious plants and foliage, the Open Glade is bordered by trees and offers stunning views over the river, and the Oak Barn is a romantically rustic indoor option.
The fairground
Get hitched in the gorgeous grounds of Marleybrook House and then head on over to their huge private fairground (the largest in the UK, in fact) for some post-marital merriment. The fairground is packed full of vintage rides and festival vibes. From waltzers and dodgems to the big wheel and the helter skelter; it’s – quite literally – all the fun of the fair. The perfect start to married life, don’t you think?
In sickness (from the waltzers) and in health; ’til dodgems do us part. That’s how it goes, right?
