Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park has been rated the UK’s highest-rated stately home to get married at, making it the perfect spot for a Bridgerton-inspired wedding. The study, conducted by photo wall art creator StoryBoards, analysed review data from wedding planning site, Hitched.
Pembroke Lodge came out on top, with over 1,100 five-star ratings. And not only would it be a dreamy location for a stately wedding, but it is also the only licensed wedding venue inside a Royal London Park, which include Hyde Park, Green Park, Richmond Park, Greenwich Park, St James’s Park, Bushy Park, Regent’s Park, and Kensington Gardens.
Located at the highest point of London’s largest Royal Park, Richmond Park, Pembroke Lodge is a stunning Grade II listed mansion. Located in 11 acres of landscaped grounds, it offers incredible views in and outside the venue, as well as over the Thames Valley. What’s more, almost 10% of every pound spent at the venue goes towards the maintenance and general upkeep of Richmond Park.
After analysing over 70 stately homes and castles in the country, Essex reigned supreme when it came to Bridgerton-esque venues, with four of the top five stately homes located in the southeast county. In second place after Pembroke Lodge was Parklands in Quendon, which I can personally vouch for after my not-quite-so-Bridgerton-esque year eleven prom.
The top ten highest-rated stately homes in the UK
1. Pembroke Lodge, Surrey
2. Parklands, Essex
3. Fennes, Essex
4. The Lawn, Essex
5. Prested Hall, Essex
All of the top five stately homes in the UK are within two hours of London.
A spokesperson from StoryBoards commented on the findings: “Choosing the right services and venues for your wedding is crucial to make your special day unique and memorable for both you and your partner. It’s important to research and find highly rated venues in your preferred wedding destination.
“Using this list can help to ensure that you can pick the best venues in the country to match any regal or Bridgeton-themed wedding you might be planning. With Essex having such a high number of great stately homes, a day trip to Essex could be a great place to start wedding planning.”
