Famously known as one of NYC’s celebrity magnets and having impossibly hard reservations to nab, Carbone is heading across the pond for its first-ever London outpost.
For those not in the know of this New York hotspot (and we mean that title in the truest sense), think waiters dapperly dressed in burgundy suits, Caesar salads prepared tableside, a spicy rigatoni dish as famous as some of the dining company you may have that night, and just downright outstanding family-style Italian food in a glamorous setting fit for Tony Soprano.
Carbone pays homage to the essence of the great Italian-American restaurants of the mid-20th century, creating a dining experience that’s simultaneously comfortable and elegant. The Greenwich Village joint has been a hit almost instantly after it opened in 2013 and has since opened sites in Miami, Las Vegas, Dallas and Hong Kong, making its new London sister site the first in Europe.
And what location is worthy enough to be the home of Carbone’s London site? That’ll be the Chancery Rosewood Hotel, another new much-anticipated opening that’s taking over the former US Embassy Grade II listed site on Grosvenor Square. The hotel, as we would expect with any hotel from the Rosewood Group, is pulling out all the stops with a ballroom, five shops, a wellness facility, a variety of restaurants, and of course 146 bedrooms and suites. The hotel, along with Carbone, will be opening in 2025.
Whilst it’s still quite a wait until Londoners are able to grab a taste of that famous spicy rigatoni, it’s safe to say that this is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming openings on the London restaurant food scene, and we simply cannot wait.
